Shipping notifications should start going out by the end of the week hopefully. I've got 2 other TT releases in this same order so I'm eagerly anticipating the package but Fright Night is the crown jewel here. Can't wait to watch/hear the extras.

That's good news...

With FN in tow I am awaiting (hopefully) re-releases of Christine and The Big Heat.

I have the Smurf version of NOTLD 1990 but would gladly buy in again if TT were to re-release this with either a new 4k master, or even a re-master with the color corrected.

Probably the wrong place to ask, but what freeware (PC?) software do you use? I've never really delved into that area at all, see, don't want to have to pay and just want to rip a few of my fave films to my external HD to save disc wear.

Where did I say 2K? I was asking why wouldn't they release what is available in 4K, as you yourself posted a list of 4K masters that have been prepared. Obviously that is a starting point - some of these might be ticked off the list initially by the studio (and not be available to Twilight Time) - of course that list will also keep growing and some titles not previously available (or known of) might become available as 4K masters.

I'm just saying i think Twilight Time seems a natural fit to pick up the 4K releases in a few years, as it's likely to be a very "limited" market. So their model kind of fits.

Thanks for the answers. I'm all about owning the actual discs but I'm thinking I want to back up my entire movie collection after I was recently reading about wear and tear on the discs over time. Would hate to have a few OOP Blu-rays become unwatchable down the road.

NOTLD '90 is popular enough that it merits a re-release. Maybe for the next round they can restore the colors to pre-Smurfdom and maybe throw in a few extras. A Savini commentary featuring himself and cinematographer saving face and telling us exactly, how, they thought it was OK for Sony to play revisionism would be cool.

I picked the Big Heat BD from Wild Side.Haven't had a chance to go through it yet but it's got a fancy thick booklet (sadly, everything is in French) with tons of great B&W shots. I missed out on the TT BD but this should more than suffice.

Let's all keep in mind that studios were doing 2k scans of movies long before blu-ray and HD DVD as well, and when those were dumped to those formats everybody got pissed because they weren't very high quality. If 4k physical media comes to fruition and those "old" 4k scans are used, people will be huffing and whining that they "could look better: all over again.

With the release date pending, and as a first time TT buyer, I'm wondering... Do they send shipping notices, or will packages just start arriving?

If you paid with credit card or debit charge, you can check if your payment has been taken. After the initial hold is removed, they don't take the funds until shipping.

They do...but the timing is sometimes late enough that they aren't of much/any use. My package from SAE arrived yesterday in the mail. Picked it up at the end of the day after work. Then a couple of hours later I sat down to my laptop and checked my e-mail. It said my order from SAE had been dispatched. You know...the one that already arrived. So...not much notice.

I hope that they keep making improvements with their re-releases (e.g. extras with FN, new 4k transfer for Journey To The Centre Of The Earth).

As for The Fury. If they re-release it (even with a better transfer) I will probably not bite on that since I am not a uber fan of that movie. That being said I will likely eventually upgrade every BD eventually if they all were available in a 4k physical format. I am a bit nuts that way.

I think you got lost. Someone asked if Twilight Time usually sends out shipping notices at the time they mail their BDs and two people said they received notices when their copies of THE BLOB were shipped out. In the past. Just examples used to say "we got notices when we got THE BLOB so you probably will when you get FRIGHT NIGHT."

Yeah, it's a smart idea. I'd wait for HDD prices to drop a little more first. Once I can back up everything without a ton of compression for a few hundred dollars I'm going to do it.

I only back up the stuff that's OOP or would be expensive to replace (the latter is a judgement call). For the rest it's just not worth the hassle, irregardless of hard drive costs.

All orders are pending as of now. That won't change until SAE processes your order and ships it out on the 20th (or later).
