I have the German bluray which is very good and comes from a very good restoration - I presume the BFI will use a newer restoration? For anyone that can’t wait the German version is worth a punt and has decent extras.

It does mention "the BFI National Archive 4K remaster of The Draughtsman’s Contract".

And theatrical reissue! Depending on how many venues play it though

I've been waiting nearly 40 years to see Days and Nights in the Forest again after falling under its spell at a rep. cinema showing while a student (another long wait under similar circumstances, now thankfully over, for The Music Room).

Would love to see this get the BFI treatment.

It's definitely the 1954 version that is coming, John Dear confirmed on Facebook that he has recorded his first commentary track for it alongside Toby Hadoke and Andy Murray (the author of "Into The Unknown: The Fantastic Life of Nigel Kneale", not the tennis player).

i'd imagine a zed & two noughts is getting a remaster later as well, it being a bfi film too

i think i've said it before but my dream box set would be remastered greenaway up to baby of macon or pillow book at least.

+

yami touched on it but could a be great year for satyajit rai fans, but cautiously optimistic.

Per Facebook, the reissue of The Great White Silence removes a 20 minute Discovery Channel episode on the restoration as the BFI lost the rights, but also adds a brief 2011 panel discussion that is also available on BFI Player, and SDH subtitles for both features.

I would like BFI (or any competent label) to release this on 4K Blu-ray:

I recently watched it and it was really atmospheric and creepy, and I loved it.

BFI lost the rights to it hence why it is OOP & the fact that 20th Century Fox distributed it which is a NO from Disney.

Ah, that is a shame. Shame Disney ruins everything it touches, as I would love to buy a 4K release of this. Maybe Criterion will do one

Bleak Moments looks like a blocky mess when watched up close. At a distance it's probably fine, but it's a shame both films didn't get the same treatment.
I projected Bleak Moments last night and thought it looked superb, but then again I wasn't getting up close trying to examine pixels I've spotted two typos in the booklet already though.

Whilst I thought Bleak Moments was overly colour saturated in a 2021 way, I didn’t find it to be blocky at all!?!

The 4K release of The Proposition is going to be an LE:
  • Limited edition 2-disc set with bespoke packaging
  • 4K (2160p) UHD Blu-ray feature presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible)
  • High Definition Blu-ray disc (featuring extras only)
  • Audio commentary by John Hillcoat and Nick Cave
  • Audio commentary by Alexandra Heller-Nicholas and Josh Nelson
  • Making of documentary
  • Archive interviews with the cast and crew
  • Trailer
  • Newly commissioned artwork by Matt Needle
  • Fully illustrated perfect-bound book featuring new and archive writing on the film, stills, rare production documents, original reviews and full film credits
  • Many other extras TBC

This might have been mentioned in the 4K section, but the blu-ray disc features extensive new, and archive extras.

I've got the Tartan dvd, but this looks an excellent upgrade

The Blu-ray release is also an LE, for what it’s worth. I’ve ordered that one as there’s more than enough to justify upgrading from the Tartan Blu-ray. New restoration, new extras and lovely packaging. Hope they can somehow get hold of Guy Pearce for this one! Probably more likely they’ll get Ray Winstone though (as they’re doing Nil by Mouth in the near future).

Wonder if it’ll include Inside The Proposition and the deleted scenes. Umbrella had an audio interview with Margot Wilson. Looks like the Tartan DVD had Meet the Cast and Crew (86 minutes, maybe the same as Inside?) and interviews with Pearce and Huston not on their BD.

I don't know how accurate these caps are, but they look similar to what i remember seeing:

http://blueprintreview.co.uk/wp-cont...-moments-3.jpg
http://blueprintreview.co.uk/wp-cont...-moments-1.jpg

Again, it might look OK in some conditions, but compared to Naked it's a blocky mess.
