The artwork for BFI's Renoir releases have been truly awful.

They don't look that bad to me; towards the end of that line Arrow Academy had some truly "will this do?" covers that must have done their sales no good at all.

I don't mind crap commissioned artwork as long it can be reversed to the original poster. Sadly BFI don't give you this option.

As for the other documentary, sure, I'll watch it, although I'll wait for a good discount, as I often do with BFi releases. "Other reviews" usually don't figure much into my enjoyment of something, as I prefer to make my own judgment.
I encourage you to watch it (at least a few episodes), you may not come away with the same feeling I did, but I thought the writing was terrible, and that Mark really didn't have much to say about the topics of gender, film history, or even the films themselves (especially given the lenght of the documentary, which I have to say I only watched five hours of)
I don't understand why he didn't just helm the project (if he cares about his name being at the center of it) and had female involvment on the film be more than reading his own script if he has so little to say.

There's very few of the Academy releases where I didn't flip the case art, where the reverse art is almost universally superior:

Now that the Dario Argento season is up and running at the BFI, has anyone been to the bookshop yet? Any good Argento Tat? Are they stocking the Arrow 4K sets etc?

As much as I moaned about the new art aesthetic that Arrow used for these, I equally applaud them for including original art on the reverse for them all. I'm a lot more forgiving when I can at least correct the problem myself within seconds!

I particularly like the original for The Running Man. First time seeing it. Been after it (w. booklet) for the longest time. Regularly check ebay but nada so far. I've only ever seen the film on youtube. I have over 50 individual Arrow titles and each has a booklet including the hard ones to find; Audition and Withnail & I so now it's become a deal breaker.

I'd probably chance my arm on the AMZ listing. £9.99. I'd be surprised if this ever went to a second pressing, but if it did and it comes without a booklet, send it back

I bought it direct from Arrow years ago and didn't get a booklet.

Just looked it up and I bought it in March of 2020. Which I should have remembered, because I left that package outside to quarantine for a week because COVID paranoia was at its absolute peak and nobody was really sure how it was transmitted, what surfaces were safe to touch, etc etc.

Nice surprise to see Brannigan is getting a release. It's a pretty enjoyable film, with an impressive cast and locations used well. Would also like the same director's Sitting Target get a Blu-ray at some point.

Will be ordering the former, along with Targets.

Gone with Targets from HMV (20% off thanks Cooey) which almost makes up for me cancelling the old £11.99 misprice preorder when it was delayed indefinitely. Glad its finally coming! Also taking a punt on upgrading Gregory's Girl via the latest amazon misprice.

Not interested in Brannigan but would love BFI to go back to Paramount to give us The Shootist.

I watched the trailer for Brannigan earlier and was laughing throughout, so I'll likely buy it at some point just for some fun. Some of the dialogue Wayne gets to spout is so-bad-it's-good! And the whole clichéd London tourism advert thing looks like a hoot as well.

Targets is yet again a no-brainer, especially now the extras have been announced too. Definitely pre-ordering it, and tempted by the Renoir too. Think I can hold off the others for now (though might get fomo from Gothic once it's out).
