Quite possibly. The meaning I took from it did seem uncharacteristic. Is it something to do with Eclair Classics or Eclair Cinéma? I don't know them or their reputation. Or it was just a chocolate eclair pun?

Question

Does anyone know what happened to the planned BFI release of Martin Scorsese's Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore? It was announced in 2016 and was supposed to be released in March 2017. I can't find any info on what happened.

The restoration was done at the OAR of 1.66:1

They pulled it and only released a dvd, at the time I saw some claim it was because the elements weren’t up to HD, but then they released it in HD on iTunes so who knows.

Thanks for the explanation. I hope it gets a BD release by someone at some point.

Supplied to the BFI only in SD. Warners seem to have form in doing that: see also Who's That Knocking at My Door? (released simultaneously with Alice) and The Devils. When they licence a film to a third party in the third place.

I suspect any BD release would come from Warners themselves.

It was shown on the Criterion channel recently and the master looked decidedly SD....

Just received my own copy of Bluebeard's Castle from Amazon UK today (ordered it a week ago), and it did come with the booklet, too.

Didn't see it mentioned, but FOPP have a few BFI Perfect Partners for only £6 at the moment, includes this lot as well as the Molly Dineen Collection vol.4 on DVD;

Sorry I should've been clearer in my wording, those are the only titles in the promo. Not a full on sale, just a part of the usual '£X with any purchase' offerings by the tills.

Yep, shockingly they've yet to produce an HD master.
When I last saw the film, two years ago at the Glasgow Film Theatre, it was a 35mm print. I get a lot of pleasure out of seeing anything on 35mm these days, but must admit it was a pretty tired looking copy. Above all, it confirmed my suspicion that a DCP doesn't exist.

You mean as bonus features on movie discs or in short film compilations?
