Maybe a better term is, clogged-up blacks. Crushed blacks is a technical term where the detail is lost forever. Not that it makes any difference, the blacks might as well be crushed if you have to turn the brightness right up to see any detail. I dunno, how comes there's so much difference between the US & German Blu's of The Interview, it's a new film, it should all be the same. Maybe the Germans won't put up with the cloggy blacks look.

VICTORY!!!!!!

I always said that, at best, I hoped for corrected foreign editions of the newest titles, THE INTERVIEW (the one I really cared about) and FURY.

Now we have them! And nobody can continue to claim that the defective US BDs represent the films as the filmmakers intended them to look.

I have a horrible feeling the catalog titles won't get revisited, I'll have to content myself with my old UK BD of MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING, unless I want to view that film as if through sunglasses on the US disc.

Still, I can finally order THE INTERVIEW on BD and get an image that isn't a sea of inky darkness, so I'm happy on this Monday.

Guys, much of the thanks for this development goes to James Luckard. I won't say more beyond stating that he has done much behind-the-scenes work to get Sony moving in the right direction.

Unfortunately Germany already got MBFW back in 2008, around the time of the old UK BD, so it almost certainly uses the same old master. It's more accurate to the film's intended look than the new black crushed US BD, but sadly lacks the detail and improved color that the new 4k remaster gave the flawed US disc.

I think the US was the last major market to get MBFW, I'm not sure where to look for a potential release of a corrected disc.

Corrected versions from Germany = score!

I wasn't too impressed with the German Fury screens, but if y'all say it's OK, I'm gettin' it soon.

Not always. Men, Women and Children ("#Zeitgeist" in Germany) had all text on screen (chats, texts, etc.) translated to German. There was an English subtitle track with translations of what should've been in English in the first place

Other releases are 1080i50. That happens here and in the UK as well, of course.

Most releases are nice, though, and they have a lot of stuff never released elsewhere.

But we're moving off-topic now

Yes, I know that but I thought the new remaster will come again in Europe.
eg. didn't that happen with Robocop and Terminator?

By the way, I repeat again, does anyone know anything about the German My Girl?

German Blu Ray of "My Girl" is identical to the US.
Remember: The US Disc had German Audio already.
So its the same Disc Master.
