I liked this one. I think if we'd seen the first trailer from Wiig's perspective before it tried to pull the nostalgia strings it would have landed better. A trailer with Erin going to the haunted house as a skeptic before been slimed would have been a nice introduction.

Fantastic Four isn't nearly as popular as Ghosbusters. It's a historically significant comic but even in the comics world it hasn't been a top seller in decades. I don't even think Marvel is currently printing an F4 book.

The Story F4 movies weren't nearly as popular as Spidey or X-Men. The F4 cartoons and toys weren't nearly as popular in the 90s either.

In capable hands F4 could easily become a huge hit. That's a hypothetical future possibility.

Trank took something with an extremely limited built-in fanbase and managed to turn every single fan off. If you can't recognize that Ghostbusters is inherently about 10x the draw F4 is and/or acknowledge the fact that Sony/Pascal/Feig/McCarthy haven't even come close to alienating the entire audience like Trank did then you're in for a rude awakening come next month.

The trailers alone have me completely taken with Kate McKinnon. I stopped regularly watching SNL in the late 80s and have seen her in nothing previously but I absolutely love what I've seen so far.

I bet the casting will be pretty good if they do make a female Oceans movie. That is something the Oceans movies did well was casting.

I don't dislike McKinnon as much, but i don't find her all that funny either.

People like to talk about Feig making blanket statements and smearing everybody who's criticized the film but nobody can ever point to anything he actually says.

Feig did say "F-ck the haters" after the first trailer hit. I believe he was doing so in response to people giving Leslie Jones crap on Twitter. And there's nothing wrong with defending your cast. But that can definitely be taken by some as a blanket statement.

The thing with Feig is that he's been very vocal over the past year in fighting back against what he feels are misogynist attacks on his movie and cast members. That's understandable, but we're way past that point now. Now a lot of people are reacting negatively to actual footage of the film. He and the cast are still acting like the animosity towards their movie stems from sexism when it's really that folks just aren't digging the humor(if you can even call it that).

If Ice Age 5 winds up better than Ghostbusters, that means we're dealing with one of the worst films of 2016. The last one was so bad even Scrat wasn't funny in it. Ghostbusters can't be worse than Ice Age 5......right?
