I was thinking the same

I personally have had no issues at the local BB (other than having to train some of the young blues on some tech stuff, which I think can be fun) or with on-line ordering from them, I have always received release day delivery just as promised, and back to the topic, just canceled my Amazon order for this film just for the art work on their exclusive. I'm sure it will arrive on time as always!

It's just lovely!!!

What is a good guess for the price upon release on Amazon? Less than $20?

22. Definetly not under 20 unless you're one of those people that thinks $19.99 counts as under 20.

i havent contributed to the best buy debacle yet, but as the only say i'll have on the subject. I dont understand why the store exists? Never been to one until recently, waaaay overstaffed for such a small place, and i dont understand why they get exclusives at all.

Wasn't Fifth Element (another Sony release) $17.99?

Agreed. I liked Circuit City a little better, and they had awesome replacement plans back in the day. I do find it odd that CC failed so long ago and BB is still kicking.

I agree that they should be changed more often but changing just one of the three over can take all week to complete and can result in needing to sendback 800+ movies that no longer have placement.
Tyrok I think the obvious solution to these movie placement problems in the Best Buy stores would be for the stores to provide hover chairs for their customers, like in Wall-E. That way,the customer just tells the on board computer what item they want and presto they are taken to the correct spot, hopefully, if customers haven't messed up the facing of the store. Maybe you guys can have little robots drop off shakes and burgers for them too. I mean who has time to shop at Best Buy and a fast food place?!? It's a million dollar idea man!

I liked CC also, but I think CompUSA was my favorite (when they first opened). I loved going there, even if it was to just look at the new technology with no intention of purchasing anything. I remember being in awe looking at those 30-40 inch plasma televisions thinking, wow, if I could only afford one of those! Our local one was right next door to one of my wifes favorite shopping spots. I would have her drop me off like a kid at day care. Although, back then on-line shopping was very limited. But, as long as there are consumers that want real time visual comparison, inspection and wish tactile contact with products before purchasing. Even if the purchase is not made at the store (what I usually do) but a lot usually do. Best Buy will continue to exist.

Man, I'll never let go of Circuit City, because of the dark atmosphere, weird music hiding around the corners, and a surprising section of movies. I remember finding imports there. And, of course, it was the first place I played Link to the Past. Sigh.

I hate how much I like that steelbook, rah.

I hated Circuit City as a teen because they never organized anything, their games, movies and CDs were all big clusterf**ks.

It went down to $18 the week after it came out.

Someone posted a picture in one of the BB ad threads of a Best Buy in NYC where the movie department is basically a big vending machine.

Yep. It was a scavenger hunt. Now Best Buy is the same way. It's amazing - Best Buy had everything organized and they have made a move to continually make finding things in store more chaotic.

Check the new release section. Not there? Try the other new release section? Ok, well behind the new release section in the back is another section of new-ish releases that might include some tv shows. Try there. If it's not there, try the random themed sections... it could be on sale and in one of those. Did you check an end-cap? They could be all there? There's an overstock area it could be in.... <sigh> I don't know. Computer says we have 7. Wait here and I'll go check in the back for 15 minutes.

Do we know yet if the Blu version is a new one or just the standard one that's already out?

As someone that used to be a record store manager, I loved CC because it was the only big-box store that had a good CD section. By that, I mean that they had a knowledgeable buyer (regardless if your local store wasn't organized well), unlike the CD sections of BB or BN, etc.

I'll just leave this, while I'm here (ObST content):

https://www.theatlantic.com/entertai...s-ever/281236/

I'm looking forward to this release. And CEotTK, and WW, all on the same day.

Edit: There is no thread for Robocop on this thing? Really?

This is the exact experience I have every time I go to Best Buy looking for something specific. It's pretty pathetic. Wal-Mart is ridiculous too. They literally aren't informed of what stock they get - they have no idea what's on their shelves. They used to be able to look it up on on a sheet of paper (lol!) each week, but now they can't even do that.

The problem with both Circuit City and CompUSA was they had totally uninformed sales employees and horrible customer service. My friend tried to exchange his VCR to CC because the front display panel failed, and they wouldn't let him exchange it for another one due to their 30-day return policy (it was 2 days past the return policy!). He never went there again, and he used to go there regularly. CompUSA was totally incapable of answering any questions you might have about electronics or computers.

Of course Best Buy isn't so friendly these days either, with their unfriendly 14-day return policy (way too short for a busy working person to fully test out a new piece of equipment like a camera, TV, etc.) and their use of The Retail Equation to track and ban "problem" customers, regardless of circumstances.

yeah, that's for sure, I really didn't mind spending half the time I was there helping other shoppers though.
