Removes details, removes grain - Unnecessary. I don't like it. |

I like it. Necessary. Removes film grain for that HD experience. |

This debate seems endless, like colorization and making a non 3D movie 3D. IMO, I like to see the movies as close to the way they were meant to be seen. DNR, if used wisely can work, but do not overuse it. To me it's like 3D films, 3D is good for some films, but don't use it unneccessarily. Too much is bad. A little goes a long way.
Besides, don't most TVs now have a DNR control? I know mine does. |

I am worried about old films having DNR/Grain e.g predator. I think old films will not look good on blu ray if they are not done right . Can all classics be restored as if they where made today?? and not have DNR grain ?
Thank you |

How can you be worried about film grain and DNR at the same time? Is there some middle ground I don't know about since those are polar opposites?
![]() Anyway, I love film grain because that is how the movie is supposed to look. Death to Gumby Patton and excessive DNR (DNR within reason that doesn't lead to detail loss I can live with)! ![]() ![]() Last edited by Hayabusa85; 04-27-2011 at 02:58 PM. |

Aside from the audio, people bought into blu-ray for better picture quality, so why would you prefer dnr, which removes detail.Sure, a title with dnr, but not too much can still look quite a bit better than it's dvd counterpart, but it would look even better without dnr.
People that think DNR is necessary and/or prefer it are ridiculous. Why would you want to lose detail? WHY? |
