What happened there? I know Amazon has been terrible for any and all TV releases the past year or so, but movies generally show up. Well, I'm doing it anyway. BB is taking too damn long to allow pre-orders on the regular case, and I don't really want the steelbook.

Amazon had trouble getting Fifth Elements out on time for whatever reason. Doubt it's a long-term problem but I guess you never know. I wish Best Buy was more reliable for carrying catalog UHD releases, as I'd get everything there.

What catalog titles were you not able to get at Best Buy? They've carried nearly every 4K movie released so far. The Fast and Furious, Despicable Me, and Apes movies are the only ones that were available later due to the studios preferring to put them on a movie money endcap.

Well I haven't done a research project on it or anything, so you might be right they get most. They didn't get Apes though, as you say, and those were two I was really eager for. I dunno, maybe I'll give it a go with Prometheus in a couple weeks, see what happens.

It can be hit or miss and when B&M doesn't have something when you go in to the store, it becomes pretty easy just to not go to it at all.

I absolutely hate going to BB stores for anything. Shit is never where it should be. I remember when I went to get the final season of Banshee because Amazon didn't ship it on time. It wasn't on the new releases rack. It wasn't on the shelf where the rest of the series was. No, that would make too much sense. The only place it was located was a lame ass display near the checkout.

That's the only place it could possibly go. It came out right when all the major network shows put out their new seasons and it's just not possible to put every one on the new release rack. When there's 10-15 of them coming out every week they have to turn the $10 and $15 racks into extra space for new shows.

It's counter-intuitive having the only copies nowhere near the actual movie/TV department. When I'm looking for a DVD/BD, I go to that department. Moreover, there should be some copies on the main rack where the old seasons are located either way. Second, most people don't know or care which studio released what, so their garbage way of dividing up those main racks based on studio is also utterly annoying. All TV shows should be in the isle in alphabetical order to be found easily (including new releases), not sorted on separate racks for each studio.

Mine definitely puts stuff in weird places sometimes. There's a new release stand near the movies but Skull Island for example was near the phones in a special stand. I think they like making you wander around, you might find other stuff to buy.

The wife absolutely banned me (NO EXCEPTIONS) from going any where near the Magnolia Room, so if they put stuff over there I will never find it!

And asking for help from the Blue Shirts usually results in their checking the computer and saying "Well, it should be here since it's in the computer..."

Adding new releases to the alphabetical sections is just not feasible. Just one new title could result in having to shift around 400+ other skus. The entire department is paid for by the movie studios and they aren't going to kick in for the amount of labor it would cost to change stuff that often.

Every new release should still appear in the department SOMEWHERE, not at the other end of the goddamn store.

Lol, sorry but this makes zero sense to me. They're re-arranging their titles and shelves all the time. Every time I go into WalMart or Target the movies are in different spots as they shift new titles around. That's what Best Buy pays their employees to do.

That's another thing that pisses me off about B&M stores in general. Everyone has these idiot distributor/reps come in to stock everything, including movies, when the employees should be doing it. Places like Walmart are the worst. These idiots come in and get in everyone's way all morning because they just show up at 9 or 10am when the place is busy, as opposed the the actual employees doing it overnight/early am like they should be.

Of course there are things that change every week like the two different new release sections and the promo/sale sections that change every 5-6 weeks. I'm referring to the A-Z sections that only change 3 times a year. The movie one alone has 660 skus in my store and the Family and TV/Anime ones are each nearly as big.

I agree that they should be changed more often but changing just one of the three over can take all week to complete and can result in needing to sendback 800+ movies that no longer have placement.

Is this thread for Starships Troopers? Starting to look like a Best Buy complaint thread. Lol
