That's a bit of a leap, isn't it? Seeing as the IMAX Beautiful Planet disc has a MaxCLL of 2200+ nits but MaxMDL of 1000 nits then it doesn't appear to be a problem.

Would I be correct, in assuming the master monitor was actually a Samsung display. I guess it's a leap. I don't know, I just thought it was odd. I wasn't implying that content couldn't be mastered at 4000 nits.

I think Tom and Chris’s PSA - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post15834967
was good to increase the awareness of laypersons. Along those lines of TV adjustment/tweaking, but with regards to a public service announcement geared toward some of our millennial readers who are burdened this holiday season with *curious-aged parents*, google – ‘Youtube Outfox The Holidays’ for an ~ 1min 40s tutorial how-to on another type of TV adjustment. |

Hang in there bud, it’s not as bad as you may think….unless….you have a severe allergy to the aesthetic(s) leading to respiratory distress and, well. Let us know if you’re still alive and kicking afterwards. Also, if you have a camera capable of HDR, a pic or two of the healing skin incisions made for the portals would be cool….unless….you develop some rare flesh eating bacterial infection. |

![]() ![]() You awake yet? If not, note to family member monitoring Wabo’s phone while in recovery, shake the dude (better yet, whisper in his ear that you inadvertently threw out his entire Ultra HD Blu-ray collection in the trash by mistake) and let him know we’re waiting on the outcome of his surgery! Meanwhile I’m going riding with da boys to keep my mind off today’s stock market. |

No one's indicated either way, they're keeping remarkably mum on the subject. So again you're making an assumption. I'm saying, from historical evidence with Miramax, Marvel, Lucasfilm, etc. there is every chance they keep the Fox branding and give them a sizeable amount of independence.

Samsung device with Dolby Vision capabilities
"Justin Denison, Samsung’s SVP of product marketing and strategy, confirmed that the company’s 5G phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. Denison said that this smartphone will be available in the United States in the first half of 2019." https://www.sammobile.com/2018/12/05...snapdragon-855 The new Snapdragon 855 SoC will support all existing operational HDR formats (i.e. HDR10, H.265 HLG HDR, VP9-HLG YouTube HDR, VP9-PQ [aka VP9-HDR10] YouTube HDR, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision). ![]() Samsung used to release two SoC variants for its flagship phones, one being the Qualcomm Snapdragon for the United States, Japan, China, Latin America markets and the other its homegrown Exynos for the rest of the world including South Korea and Europe. New Snapdragon 855: video playback of all currently operational HDR formats New Exynos 9820: apparently only HDR10, like its predecessor the Exynos 9810 of the Galaxy S9 phone https://www.sammobile.com/2018/12/06...napdragon-855/ ![]() Samsung will likely reduce the video playback feature of this upcoming flagship phone (Galaxy S10?) to the lowest common denominator: no Dolby Vision. And this restriction would certainly be jailbroken by some XDA developer. https://www.google.com/search?q=jail...hrome&ie=UTF-8 Anyway, the new Snapdragon 855 will come to other flagship phones in 2019 so that people can enjoy watching any HDR movie, in whichever format director chooses to use, on the go, or at home using the phone as streaming player. https://www.bgr.in/news/sony-xperia-...-s10-mwc-2019/ https://www.avsforum.com/forum/465-h...l#post57310992 HDR movie stored on the cloud >> Internet >> phone > phone display HDR movie stored on the cloud >> Internet >> phone as streaming player >> USB-C to HDMI adapter >> HDR TV |

![]() But as to jets, remember this promotion by Pepsi?…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdackF2H7Qc#t=1s Turns out instead of collecting 7,000,000 Pepsi Points through the purchase of Pepsi products, some guy sent a certified check to Pepsi for $700,000 and change as permitted by the contest rules. He had 15 existing points, paid $0.10 a point for the remaining 6,999,985 points, and a $10 shipping and handling fee. So, he demanded that Pepsi give him the Harrier jump jet as per their posted contest rules. Even sued Pepsi Co. in District court for breach of contract and fraud in order to make them honor their contest after they essentially blew him off. He lost the case ![]() |
