I agree its Star Wars in 1080p HD just buy it !! its worth every penny even for £55.

Looking forward to ignoring this set still, when it drops to £19.99

Rocky set - 6 movies £17.99
Nightmare on Elm Street - 7 movies £24.99
James Bond Collection - 6 movies £22
Harry Potter - 6 movies £19.99 Or 8 including brand new film (usually around £15 alone) £32
Superman - 5 movies £17.99
Planet of the Apes - £35 7 movies, Again incl brand new release worth £14.99
Fast and Furious - 5 movies £30 Or if you are a fan, a choice a 10 disc set in a wheel £55

Just as an example.

I mean if you were talking about a release for such an iconic set of films, lets say the Harry Potter limited number set 8 movies, 8 DVDs, 3 disc of extras AND, a book. Adding something above a standard release for collectors and fans for £55, like on amazon - I would pay that, happily !!!!

BTW I bought standard HP set. Its not all about the packaging, although this SW release sucks. It is more about a set thats value for money and is not a rip off for fans. As someone else said, they are able to offer a bog standard set and charge loads... Its Star Wars, they'll pay it.

Comparing to a release like HP (EIGHT movies incl one brand new release) standard £32. Fair, in fact great value. Something special for fans/collectors £65 (on release) again fair.

But you're right, why should anyone expect something awesome? Its only Star Wars. And £65 or £50 as it is now... as you can see when comparing ... Bargin

The flaw in comparing the Harry Potter collection to Star Wars, it has had multiple blu-ray releases over the blu-ray lifespan with the various 1-4, 1-5, 1-6 etc sets flooding the market. Star Wars just one set of releases, 1-6 and the two trilogies.
To expect the prices to be similar to the complete Harry Potter set, or other multi-film packs that have been out for 1 or 2 years just isn't a fair comparison.

Not defending the release just pointing out sets don't instantly hit the magic £19.99 mark.
If it had been the theatricals I would have gladly paid full whack.

LOL, yeah as I tap away, I've popped another single coal on the fire and powered up my single candle for light, so I could reply.

My point is and always has been, this set is not befitting such an awesome set of movies, it has nothing special about it for fans or collectors and the price is shocking. I think that list proves that.

I dont like to be ripped off, sorry. I compared this to HP set, as HP is a modern Star Wars in the way of following and fan base. The biggest set of movies for a generation.

The fact SW took years to release and millions to touch up, doesn't mean it is worth £67 for the little sand coloured box and 9 discs. Fact is, everyone who has this, had this on DVD or VHS or has seen it a 1000 times over. Why be in such awe to have a DNR version lacking possible extras and what all fans wanted, original versions included for such a high price.

The set that is release for SW is the standard £32 set. I would have thought for the £67 (£75 in store) we'd have got something awesome.

6 films
3 discs of extras (and there's some great stuff on there).
First time on Blu Ray.
Only out since September.
You'll be waiting awhile for it to hit 19.99.

Winstone, I have no idea why you bring up the HP editions in this thread.
To me HP is garbage and I wouldn't get the movies if someone was giving them out for free, but I don't write about it twice a day in the HP thread because, well... what's the point?
Yet you need to spam this one with same comments each day, same thing over and over again. It's really kinda sad if you ask me.

On topic: I watched AotC yesterday and PQ was mediocre at best. The outer space scenes look amazing but in the normal scenes image is not sharp enough, especially when you look at the background. Also CGI stands out more then on dvd, for obvious reasons.
Now just need to sit through RotS and on to the OT I go

Didn't ask you ?

I don't come on here twice a day, in fact I haven't bothered with this thread for ages, but Joliefan seems keen to keep mentioning my reluctance to buy this. So I feel the need to put across why. Don't mention me and I won't come on here and type away. Simple.

No one can stop you from been annoyed until you realize the only person you effect is yourself. Maybe research the ignore feature if you have a problem reading a particular members posts.

The internet forums regarding films are monitored by the industry. If we complain or show objection too been ripped off, either the industry loses further repeat sales or announces that 'pirates' are costing them a fortune in fake sales. They do read peoples feelings & gauge the atmosphere of fans.

I won't be buying the SW-6 film set until its at £20 or until they announce a revised version post 2010 changes.

I am willing to spend money but not in the region of a tenner a film. Got over the addictive nature of grabbing each new shiny thing the film industry has manipulated people into buying as soon as its out..each to their own]

Then can i ask why do you come on here and moan about the price and set?

Its very obvious that people enjoyed this set and are willing to pay the price and are happy with what they got.

To be fair it does have the films in there, looking better than they ever have done in the home before. 99% of people out there won't care about a tacky statue or bundled in book that they could buy separately for a couple of quid.

And as others have said, the list proves nothing. The Harry Potter box-set for example, features 6 (arguably 7) releases that would be deemed budget releases, due to how long they've been out there. The Star Wars box-set was sold at a premium ("was" being the key word because it's no longer being sold for £70) because all 6 films were considered premium releases. Thats why it cost more. A fairer comparison would have been the Extended LOTR trilogy, which sold for £40+ and only featured three films (albeit all premium releases, like SW).
