Take away the fact that this is Star Wars. And a brand new release of 6 films + 3 bonus discs and £48 would be an extremely good price. But the fact it's star wars means a lot of people would never be happy even if it was free, so this is one thing people just need to agree to disagree on.
I only payed something like £20 for it so I'm not too bothered, but it could definately drop to £35 if Harry Potter Collection can sell for under £35 so can this. ![]() |

I pre-ordered this the day it was announced! Ended up paying like £58 or something by the time it came out and I think even that was a great price! 6 films plus 3 bonus discs. Even just 6 films for less than a tenner each is amazing, especially when it's brand new but then on top of that you get all those special features. Then again I'm a huge Star Wars fan and would happily have paid more than that just to have it so I can't believe the people who think £48 isn't good enough!

I'm looking to buy Ep IV-VI when the price goes down to something reasonable like £15-20. I don't think the set is worth more than that, the discs don't look awful, but they could have looked a lot better than they do if they had actually bothered to do a full remaster.
At least they look better than the DVD and that the shadow detail (or some of it) has returned, and the crushed blacks are gone. I still hate the way the first film has been colour corrected. In some parts (using the DVD as reference here) the film looks way too dark, mainly some of the early scenes on tatooine. One scene in particular is the scene in Kenobi's house. Also scene outside the destroyed sandcrawler and the burning homestead, all look too dark and suffer from oversaturated colours and excessive contrast. and they were right, according to the sales figures. What kind of set I expect? bare-bones OT...3D..."newly discovered" extras...believe me, there will be no shortage of reasons for another release! |

Alien Anthology: 4 films and 2 bonus discs for £37 = £6.16 per disc Star Wars Saga: 6 films and 3 bonus discs for £57 = £6.33 per disc Regardless of quality of content, the sets were basically comparable price-wise per disc on release. If you're using your £20 Alien Anthology price tag then you'll have to wait and see what Star Wars is going for in March of next year. If it hits £31 by then it's had a comparable drop to the Alien Anthology. |

Possibly the Harry Potter set compares, they offer slightly less extras-wise but are better value for money as they have 8 huge blockbusters in the set. The only way I see Star Wars hitting sub £20 is if they repackage it like the Aliens Anthology set but then would people expect the individual sets to be half that price? I myself am waiting for a big price drop before justifying the purchase and will be happy to accept a package change if the price drops accordingly. Although I might be tempted with a trilogy set in the interim if the go below £18! |

I don't understand all the grumblings about price. Especially now that it's less than fifty quid for all 6. I recall paying £30 for the original trilogy on dvd. If you love Star Wars, just buy the darn set. I once paid £34 to import a Japanese blu-ray of Trainspotting, and for me, Danny Boyle's film was well worth every penny. Stop being so miserly!
