Hold that thought. Do you really think Lucas (business man that he is) will leave it there with a blu-ray release?

Oh good lord, not a chance.

With the recently announced 3D coverted versions set to be released in theaters in the next few years, there will probably be a new "Ultra Mega Limited Edition 3D Set" primed for release by the time that blu-ray comes to the end of it's life, and when the next format takes over.

I can see the ad now:
"Star Wars: The Complete 3D Saga coming to DTBD (direct-to-brain-download) September 4th 2021". lol

Which in a roundabout kinda way is what I meant. Lucas won't stop there.

Oh, we all knew that already years ago. The problem is, that the whole Star Wars saga is such a turning point in the history of cinema, that we will never stop buying it, no matter what format it appears on.

George Lucas has probably even left instructions in his will for his family to continue to milk the franchise after his death.

I'm with you mate, Amaray's can be replaced, a squashed slipcase or torn Digipak on the other hand....

What a missed opportunity for an amazing collectible set. But come to think of it, they've never offered a collectors edition for the previous releases. A shame really, I'd certainly pay extra for a Vader helmet that opened up to reveal the discs
I'm so surprised as well! Studios usually love releasing these sets with collectibles and a large price tag (thinking of the upcoming Jurassic Park set, the Scarface Cigar Box and more).

But I'm happy there's no 'Ultimate Collector's Set', get to save on some cash! Especially with all the other upcoming Blus!

It happens all the time with Spielberg and Lucas films, like club Obi Wan in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and ET in The Phantom Menace:

I don't know whether it's because of the picture quality, or if it's just me, but that doesn't look like an Indy costume to me. Lego Indy was in Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga though so I guess that counts as a crossover.

Obi Wan was in The Temple Of Doom? That's my favorite Indy movie, and I've never seen anyone that looks like either of the Obi Wans' (Alec Guinness or Ewan McGregor).

I remember the ET's though! I laughed when I saw them on the big screen back in 1999.

Aswell as fighting a Borg cube in "Star Trek: First Contact".

ILM like to take crossover liberties apparently, lol.
