i know matthew perry wasn't actually with cast of friends due to doing something else theater but still you finally get a friends reunion and yet no matthew perry in person

then again debra messing also wasn't there with her cast only introduce them like matthew perry did meh

i truly hope 1 day there will be a true friends reunion with all the cast being free and nothing mess up schedule with 1 of them not going to show up

I'm reading the Davis Cup schedule before beginning work for the day. I may put Spartacus (TV) on in the background while doing it. Nothing motivates a person like the sounds of swords meeting in the arena.

I was at NXT Live in Asbury Park on Friday night and I learned something about live crowds in the new era.

There is a percentage of people who chant with purpose and the rest just follow along now.

20 years ago, if you didn't feel it you didn't say it.

ALSO...these volley chants "Let's go Roman/ Roman Sucks." are chanted by the same people on both ends. The same guy in front of me shouting "Let's go Eva" was chanting "Eva Sucks."

Sure...there are people who do it for real but the majority just want to yell and scream and have a good time.

My issue is with dudes in the front row yelling actual hateful $h!t at a dude who is just there to entertain some people.

But yeah...Roman is only over in certain parts of the country.

I don't think Roman was ever really over. In the more smarky cities, the reaction from marks is tepid enough to be drowned out by amount of negativity that the other side of the fan spectrum offers. And yes, a lot of that has to do with Vince trying to make him the guy to replace John Cena as the top guy. And considering that the smarks had to go through about 10 years of a goofy cornball face as the top guy, it's not hard to see why they would react that way.

But another problem with Roman is, well...let's just say that charisma isn't a genetic trait in his family. Afterall, Cena is at least able to stir up a large reaction on both sides to the point of sparking dueling chants from the crowd. Even if what you're saying is true based on what you saw last week, I'm sure that those kinds of folks would be fully invested in booing Roman as heavily as possible rather than going "lets go Roman/Roman sucks". You try and make him do corny jokes and lines like making reference to Jack and the Beanstalk and quoting Sylvester the Cat and it just doesn't work. There isn't even any ironic appeal in what he says because the delivery is so terrible.

Even though they stopped doing that not long after, it really showed where Vince was going to go with this character and fans were not going to have any of it, either wilfully or apathetically. And when I heard that he actually got cheered in Philadelphia (of all places) after he won the title, it seemed like they never bothered to follow up on that. They played to his strengths for only one night, and that was it. Vince thought that he finally got the crowd to like Roman, so they just went back to what they did before, and now we're back to square one. Even though they liked him for that moment, I doubt that they'll like him all over again once they return to Philly in a few weeks.

As for what you said about Eva Marie, she more or less seems to be treated like a joke from the crowd. She isn't going to be the defacto face of NXT, she isn't a threat to any of the top stars,* the entire company isn't going to be dependent on her succeeding. Completely different from Roman's situation.

*I haven't seen NXT since they went WWE Network exclusive, so I don't know if this is true for their women's division.

There's a lot of variables as to why people react the way they do towards Roman, but I don't think that chanting for the sake of chanting is one of them.
