Lab exam was more difficult than I thought it would be, hope I at least got a B on it but on a lot of those I was just making guesses.

Very cool! Nothing like getting your system properly tuned.

I normally don't like subs with music and prefer full range 2-channel, but I had a sealed 10" matching sub with my speakers that I picked up a couple of years ago used that had a dead amp. I finally picked up an external amp to drive it. I currently have it setup strictly for music and TV, and I happened to get it dialed in last night. Blends nicely with my mains. It gives TV watching just the right amount of oomph, and actually I like using it with music.

I've never used Pandora before, as someone who doesn't like a lot of music is it something I should consider? I still can't believe I left my wallet at home, now I will have to drive all the way back there before I can start doing my errands today.

I'm trying to avoid having to tell a married dude whose wife is banging another dude that at some point he has to break out of this quiet and sensitive shell that has been manufactured for him and find his masculinity.

Sometimes...JUST SOMETIMES...you don't always have to see the other person's point of view.

Sucks. I hate when I forget something that important, especially when I realize it after I get to the store or wherever.

Anyway, I think you meant to quote XLIV, but since I'm a casual radio/online music listener who happens to use Pandora I thought I'd chime in. I'm very selective with music, so the cool thing with Pandora (and other free music services) is that you can select a "channel" that will play the type of music that you like. The channel can be an artist, a genre, or even something like "coffee house", and based on your selection you will get similar music based on your selection. When I'm in a kick back mood, I'll pick my James Taylor channel, and I'll get artists like Carly Symon and even more recent stuff like Jack Johnson in the mix. Granted you will get a few songs/artists that you probably don't like, but the cool thing is you can "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" the songs that play so that the channel becomes more tailored to your listening tastes. Thumbs down will also skip the song.

The drawbacks are bitrate (free version is low bitrate like 128k I think) and ads. Pandora has become littered by ads, especially the mobile version, which is why I no longer use it on my phone. However, my home systems have Pandora support so that's where I use the service primarily. There are other options as well such as Songza, which I used for the past year on my phone, but it recently started getting annoying with its ads. Spotify is also popular, which I just installed last night, but I haven't had much a chance to play with it.

Hope that helps.

Very good explanation.
I love Pandora I don't seem to get many adds...seems like one short little add for like every ten songs or something I can't remember. Im using the free version as well.
The paid version you get more song skips and no adds:

"Pandora on the Web plays 64k AAC+ for free listeners and 192kbps for Pandora One subscribers. All in-home devices play 128kbps audio, and mobile devices receive a variety of different rates depending on the capability of the device and the network they are on, but never more than 64k AAC+."

I have an Alpine Pandora player in my Saleen and also my Yamaha AVR has Pandora. Witch I noticed yesterday there was a firmware update for my Yamaha that added Spotify to my AVR. Haven't messed with it yet though.
I also use Pandora on both my iPad and iPhone. Love it.

I haven't used Pandora on my phone for more than a year, so maybe the ads have minimized? The last time I used it, every song cycled maybe 2 to 3 ads IIRC.

I have Yamaha as well, both my Aventage units (RX-A3020 and RX-A1010) without the enhancer enabled sounds better than 128k. I've had more expensive preamps with Pandora that didn't sound half as good as the Aventage. I have no idea what it's doing, but it doesn't sound like 128k to me (although I know it is). I otherwise could never listen to Pandora at home on my other preamps, which all sounded 128k even with enhancers enabled (not necessarily a bad thing as the preamps were evidently only passing the signal). I also don't care for enhancers anyway, which always sound more like cheap loudness schemes to me.

BTW, I'm a huge Stang fan. Is that a Saleen Mustang you have? What stage?

I was rootin' for you guys in the divisional round. Didn't want to see the Seahawks advance, even if I was pretty much certain the Hawks were gonna take it all, I just didn't want to see it happen.

j/k Sweet ride! My last Stang was a '97 GT. Actually, it was technically a GTS as it had no extras. My intent was to make it a track car, but the darned thing was so fun to drive it ended up being a daily driver. 4 years ago I had an opportunity to get a 2010 GT vert - AT THE WIFE'S REQUEST - and I ended up getting a Tundra.

I'm choking down a "Philly Cheesteak" from Blimpies.

Totally my fault. Shouldn't have ordered like that there.

I had a Toyota 4x4 with a 7" lift kit during college lol. Young kids, I tell ya. Been a "Ford guy" since and owned two F150s as well as the Stang. However, I loved the look of the Tundra that I had to have one. They look like they have muscles . Here's my ride, I slapped a 2.5" leveling kit on it with 33s.

[Show spoiler]

I wanted to go higher (at least a 6" lift with 35s, but this time around the wife wanted something she didn't have to climb into. My F150s had 7.5" lifts with 35s. They were fun project trucks.

That is one nice looking truck man.

Thanks! Yeah, those new FX4s are sweet! There's a guy down the street from me with a grey one and a cross-member style lift and 35s. Very nice truck.
