Follow up to the last sentence in this early April’s post…..https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...g#post13461582
Better yet, a festival which is free and open to all. Dan, and/or other readers, if you’re in town during June 8 – June 10, a demo of the HFR hockey footage is now planned for here – http://www.futur-en-seine.paris/ at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris. |

Follow up to the exclusive news posting of May 5 - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...i#post13563059 Samsung is striving to have a commercial installation of this display in place within the next 12 months, give or take (+ or -) a few months. ^ Conversely, for those Dolby enthusiasts among you, just last week Dolby was at a summit in HLG territory (the UK) promoting the value of dynamic metadata with a supplemental teaser as to its usefulness also for live content….

http://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/ra...a-crash-330893 With that in mind, come September while I’m in town for CEDIA 2017, I’m thinking probably on Friday of CEDIA week, I plan on leading a group of riders (like those industry buddies which I posted a picture of) UP from Pine Valley (east of San Diego) to around Laguna Meadow Road (greater than 5,000 ft. of climbing) then down Noble Canyon trail (google it for an idea as to the challenge) to get back to our vehicles parked at the staging area. If anyone here is interested, send me a PM. |

Saw that, he's lucky he didn't take out a few other riders when he was stumbling around, and then I thought he was really gonna hurt himself after he remounted!
I did Noble canyon trail 3 years ago when I was visiting a friend in Socal |

Can’t say. It hasn’t been announced yet, but thru event education, Samsung with HDR10+ is planning/hoping to bring more awareness to that particular dynamic metadata approach as to the notion of it being an alternative end-to-end solution (ala Dolby Vision) for the production chain in the industry as well as promote adoption of the HDR10+ format by more consumer TV manufacturers other than themselves.

![]() The reason I link this article now is that some online ‘experts’ disparage the 4,000 nit Dolby Pulsar as being retina searing or burning when in reality they have little or no experience with its use. Note this line from the article….“A film-based radiographic image, viewed on the light box, can reach a peak luminance of 3000 – 4000 cd/m²…..” Kind of makes one wonder how for decades, millions of diagnostic radiologists looking at x-rays on a light box for 8 hrs./day (or, I’m told more) didn’t suffer from burned out retinas. They didn’t….and neither are colorists who are working with the Pulsar day-to-day. |

With some of the HDR10 discs being mastered at 4000 nits and reduced to 1000 nits and HDR being rendered in absolute values, would the discs need to be reissued with 4000 nits peak brightness?

No set does 4,000 nits anyway. The difference is only between them lowering it in the mastering stage versus your set mapping the higher levels.
