Wasn't impressed.

Which is weird because I actually felt a lot of the emotional beats.

I just thought the movie was very predictable. I understand this direction was inevitable as the heart of the story goes beyond the games. The games brought a sense of unpredictability and above all were entertaining. Once that wall was torn down I feel like we're left with a standard the oppressed shall rise movie.

I'm not one to complain about shaky cam (never complained about Batman Begins or the Bourne sequels) but there were two sequences that were arguably the worst shaky cam I've ever seen. Mainly because it was just pointless. We're watching people traverse through rubble from behind for mere seconds. That camera was taking some wide sways.

Hunger Games 7/10
Catching Fire 9/10
Mockingjay P1 6/10

[Show spoiler]Gale retelling his story about rescuing the District 12 residents from the fire bombing.
That was the most powerful point in the movie.

I was actually gonna post a photo of that as well. I took a pic as soon as the credits finished. It's a great logo.

[Show spoiler]For me it might have been the power plant scene.

Something about self sacrifice in efforts to overcome true evil always gets me.

I felt the same way in The Two Towers at Helm's Deep.

I'm assuming it has something to do with conjuring up emotions of World War 2 where things like that actually happened. People willing to pay the ultimate price for the sake of good.

Wonder if they will allow Johanna to be on the team that strikes the Capitol in the movie, she was too mentally unstable to get through training in the book.

Just came back from watching the movie, overall not a bad adaptation.

Definitely better than the novel, and any issues I had with the film stemmed from the source material. The lack of Johanna and Peeta sucked, especially since they were used so well in the Capitol propaganda stuff.

Also, I found it interesting that nothing was mentioned about Enobaria, even though she was taken by the Captiol along with Johanna and Peeta at the end of CF. Especially since
[Show spoiler]the deal Katniss made with Coin in the film didn't seem to include her, which was something that saved her in the book
.

No problem. I only heard about it due to hearing someone on here mention it. I'll probably see it again next week when i see Horrible Bosses 2. And maybe a few other times.

This is pretty much how the cookie crumbles for me as well.

My favorite part of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 was when Philip Seymour Hoffman's character, Plutarch, was reacting to the above-ground bombings, and obviously struggling to hold his composure and keep from freaking out. That little moment in the film is such a testament to this late actor's talent.
