But I can't see how someone would think that about this. A LOT happens. But it's, as you say, happening with the characters, inside them, in their development.

Exactly tons of stuff happens. Yes, there are some action scenes through out the film. But as you said most deals with all the characters developments. Last 20 minutes or so are quite suspenseful.

The whole year has been down. No movie will pass $400 mil even though there were multiple $400 mil grossers in both 2012 and 2013. Heck, we'll only get two $300 mil grossers.

Exactly. It's not just this. But movies overall as a whole. Blame it on streaming and piracy.

I'll blame it on this being a bad year for movies

All the so called 'hits' this year were never as good as advertised. It started with the ridiculous hype with the Lego Movie, which was called by one reviewer possible the best film ever, then a few weeks later they were saying Captain America 3 was the best film ever, then Apes was the best ever, then Xmen was the best ever, and it just continued. All those films had great critical praise but none were as good as advertised.

The reality is this was a very bad year for film and critics, attempting to protect their jobs, pumped all these movies up with hot air in an attempt to drive ticket sales. All it ended up doing was disappointing people which drove sales down.

Film critics have no vested interest in higher ticket sales.

This is one of the dumbest things I've read all year. Maybe the illuminati was behind it.

Bad films have always made money, the 90's was an awful time for Blockbusters, but movies are still here and so are critics. I doubt film is going to be made obsolete.

I've seen tons of great films this year, if you're not liking them, maybe you ought to branch out into other film areas to quench your thirst if mainstream cinema disappoints you so much?

Well there's also TV series, short films, Independent cinema (no it's not the same as Arthouse), radio series, books, video games, doctor's pamphlets, etc.

Streaming and piracy has been around in the previous years and I don't think it skyrocketed to the point it had an impact on this years movies. This year honestly didn't have as many great movies as previous years. Next year though
