Congrats on Mockingjay Part 1 being the number #1 of 2014.
![]() Plus Jen has been the star of the top grossing film 2 years in a row. I think the last time that happen was back in 94-95 oddly enough with Tom Hanks with Forrest Gump and the original Toy Story. |

I know tell me about it. Another almost 10 months to wait. But the Blu Ray for MJ1 will be out on March 6th, 2015. So that should tide us over til then. ![]() |

What happened to Peeta? Is he even in this?

Yes, he's in it. But he's captured by the capital and the only time you see him for the most part is when Caesar Flickerman is talking to him. And see him on the TV in District 13. Gale has more screen time in this one. Along with meeting other new characters.

I finally watched part 1! I hadn't read the book in 3 and half years, so outside of the big stuff (that's going to be in part 2) I didn't really remember all the details. Except, I didn't get the opening scene of the movie, because that never happened in the book. Unless that was a dream? With what they had in the movie and what I know part 2 will have; they could have just made a 3 hour movie instead. You know how in the first and the second (likewise with the books) how it takes over an hour to get to the Hunger Games? That's what they've done with this 2 parter. Only this time they added an extra hour to make an extra movie.
I'm not mad or anything that we got an extra movie. But they should've just made part one 40 minutes and made it apart of part 2, and should've simply called it 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay'. Or they should have made part 1 a Zero Dark 30 type movie with rescuing Peeta. Because with them actually showing it, they messed up Finnick's big reveals with intercutting. That was his big moment in the series as a character, especially in Mockingjay. On first impressions, Catching Fire is still the best. I'm not sure if I like this one more than the first, though. Because there are some really good scenes in this one. But it felt more like they were remaking the first, with this one on a bigger scale in some cases, but not landing as gracefully. Not sure if that makes sense? Also, for them attempting to stay true to the books of Katniss being unlikabl—it doesn't really work most of the time. Jennifer Lawrence is just to gosh darn likable. |

I take it you've read the book? I am wrong in thinking they messed up Finnick's pivotal exposition? I think with them almost making him background noise, it took the focus off of him showing the rescue mission simultaneously. And sort of undermined what he was saying. That, and they pretty much revealed his big secret in Catching Fire, which I found rather odd. Because it made him come off as almost content with it. Contrary to his dialogue in Mockingjay concerning his dealings with those who are wealthy. |
