The takings from the following year count in the total; Catching Fire would not have topped the 2013 domestic charts had the count stopped on Dec 31st.

I've gotta say that MJ part 1 has had some impressive legs, I thought it would limp past $300m but it's still chugging along and will surely overtake Guardians as #1. That's not as impressive as the $400m/$424m hauls of the first two, but considering that this is "just a cash grab" etc etc it's done brilliantly to (surely) become the #1 domestic movie of the 2014 releases.

This one didn't have 0MAX either like the previous two did. Plus GOTG had the advantage of both 3D and IMAX.

So the total for this should be around $340 or more for its final tally. So that's pretty impressive for something as you said as a "cash grab".

With the IMAX premium you could add another $10m or so in terms of measurable IMAX income, but it's sometimes worth even more to the regular total because of the kind of 'event movie' status it bestows on a film.

Still, for it be top of the pops with no IMAX and no 3D isn't just impressive, that's astonishing IMO.

Exactly, it just shows the draw of the fans. And of Jennifer herself as a box office draw.

That's because other than THG series, she's been in ensemble films with other great actors and actresses. Perhaps the upcoming David O. Russell film will be the one where people see her in a new light and realize she's here to stay for a long time.

I saw a thing that said the majority of people went to go see X-Men: DOFP based on her along. The same thing could be said for American Hustle. Because those people wouldn't have seen a movie like American Hustle without her in it.

But she is THG franchise and without her there wouldn't be one.

She was 4th billed among Christian "The Dark Knight" Bale, Bradley "The Hangover" Cooper and Amy "Enchanted" Adams. Which people are you referring to?

The X-Men filmmakers turned Mystique into the pivotal character of the story because of Jennifer Lawrence's fame.

As for her billing in American Hustle, that was determined in large part by the amount of screen time that the four leads had. Remember, she had wanted to take a small vacation and joined American Hustle fairly late.

That's also correct. Because she really wanted to work with DOR again. Plus she has the AND credit. Which back then was a big deal for actors

Of course they did. What I am doubting was that the majority of people who saw it did so only for Jennifer Lawrence.

Of this I am also aware. What I am stating is that she was not the only draw in that film. In fact, I had asked to which people he had been referring to. Who was not going to see it without her included?
