He is lucky!

Heck, I'm jealous of everyone who gets to know her. She seems like the kind of person that makes everyone smile.

Same here and uh-huh. You watch her interviews and just can't help but laugh and fall in love with whatever she says. Whether she's talking about peeing her pants or constantly always saying how starving she is and wanting to eat.

'Hunger Games' Goes To China In 3D
Quote:
Hot off the presses, Lions Gate Entertainment LGF -1.7% has announced that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part I will be opening on February 8th of this year in China. As you probably know, the film’s release in said territory was delayed from its original day-and-date debut for reasons that frankly were never made clear. The release was pushed first to January of 2015 and then to February, with a date now firmly set in stone. But the big news is that the film will be getting a theatrical release in China in 2D and 3D formats, which will be a first for the blockbuster franchise.

I read about that before a few days ago. About it being in 3D.

Box office update. It's less than $10 million behind GOTG.

There's nothing to 3D-fy in that movie. It's just a serious waste of money if a person pays for a 3D ticket.

But aren't most if not all 3D movies a waste of money?

Tell Lionsgate that in regards to Insurgent too.

The decision to turn Mockingjay Part 1 into 3D was prolly made by the local Chinese distributor, just as Transcendence was converted into 3D only in China.

With regards to Insurgent, the teaser and trailer show lots of shots that would look good in 3D. However, if all the cool shots have already been shown, then people will be disappointed with the 3D experience. Also, it looks like a lot of action sequences take place at night, and 3D glasses make everything much, much dimmer.

That dude's just as impressed as I was about the drawing power of the HG movies, but I had no idea that it's the first movie in 8 years to top the domestic B/O charts without the benefit of 3D and/or IMAX. Amazing.

As for the 3D conversion, I had a feeling that the China hold-up wasn't simply because of a congested market or whatever. People love to be blasé and dismissive of what 3D brings to the table, but by all accounts the foreign-release conversion of Noah is spectacular (and only took about 8 weeks to do, albeit with 1500 people working on it) and I'd love to see how the conversion for Mockingjay turns out. I forsee a purchase from YesAsia or DDDHouse in the near future!

Even though part 1 has done brilliantly thus far, I think Lionsgate are secretly smarting that it won't touch the $400m+ domestic hauls of the first two movies, so for part 2 I reckon they're gonna go for a worldwide 3D release and maybe IMAX too. It shouldn't be nearly as dark and gloomy as part 1 was (although there are still those scenes set in the bowels of the Capitol to consider) and they've got a year to get the conversion done, so if they take their time and do it right it could look spec-****ing-tacular.

Well, the problem with foreign markets is that some countries only play movies in 3D, not giving you the choice of watching in 2D at all. That forces people who can't see 3D to buy 3D tickets.

Wish she had recorded a little speech. Would have loved to see that! But I'm so happy for her!

I found this on a Hunger Games Facebook page.
