Well, Variety liked it, but THR didn't for the reasons that many have already mentioned with regards to splitting the last book in a series (Harry Potter, Twilight, etc.).

Yeah, just got done reading McCarthy's review. I wouldn't say that he didn't like it. He just seems irritated by the splitting. Which is fair.

Oh, I know.

[Show spoiler]I read the books one after the other right after I saw the first movie. And when I put "Mockingjay" down, I was very curious as to how they were going to film it, for one. And also, I was curious how fans who hadn't read the books would react to it, since it is SO different than the first two.

But "Mockingjay" was my favorite of the books.

The situation is even worse with Allegiant.

[Show spoiler]The author splits the POV between Tris and Four. Are the movies going to jump back and forth or just stay with Tris? Splitting it would piss off people who hadn't read the books since the "reveal" is so jarring, and the payoff is too small to justify its own movie. Moreover, something happens in the book that will REALLY piss off a large portion of the audience.
