Thats essentially what the Mockinjay is with no hint of the games anywhere. The whole series is internally flawed beyond saving because the author felt that a series of books has to be a trilogy in order for it to be epic. Or that 3 books makes you more money then 2.

The whole series should have ended after the 2nd book/movie. Instead its drawn out into this war thing that has nothing to do with The Hunger Games, which the books are built around. Its flawed source material, making it very obvious why so many people dont like the final book and why so many people dont like this movie.

ADD kids are the only people who dont like this? Sorry but I dont need to know more about how Katniss is feeling. I've had the whole love triangle thing, nightmares thing, love/hate relationship with Peeta shoved down my throat for the last 2 movies. Its worn out its welcome. I didnt need an entire film dedicated to emotions that have already been well developed.

Even so this third movie is not good in anyway at all. Theres no build up, no suspense. 2 hours pass and very little happens. It defies logic that sequences like the
[Show spoiler]bombing of the dam
are rushed and poorly fleshed out when the rest of the movie is so dialogue heavy. Sorry but I thought the hunger games was sort of an action movie, not a talkie.

Stop trying to defend this dreadful movie. Its a poorly written, poorly directed stretched out movie based on poor source material. Of course it was going to be awful.
The series should have ended after the second book/movie!? Wow. Just wow. You must be part of the generation I was talking about to go off on such a long rant that amounts to nothing which, ironically, you're blaming the 3rd book/movie for doing.

Flying straight into a 1 film Mockingjay with a giant civil war would have completely undermined the message about that action. The audience needed to understand that this is now far more important than simply 24 lives in the balance of a "kill or be killed" entertainment event. And this film does that superbly!

[Show spoiler]My only major complaint comes from the jarring disconnect we see between the last shot of Catching Fire and the entire Mockingjay Part 1 film. Katniss' transition from the realization of her district being wiped out to staring straight down the lens with the fire of all Hades in her eyes
was so visceral as a cliffhanger shot. Then, when we next see her, she is all "boo-hoo... woah is me." I just think that there needed to be a failed attempt at releasing her unbridaled rage before seeing her in a "worn down mental patient" state. I can live with it. It was just a bit disappointing to not get any payoff for that amazing last shot of Catching Fire.

as a person who never read the books, I felt this was a missed opportunity, we never did see that steely resolve hinted at in CF, perhaps this comes through in prt 2?

WTF?!?! Seriously? You are telling us that you would rather the entire franchise (books AND films) ended after the "unimportant" stuff was out of the way? Let's face it. In the bigger picture of this franchise, the actual Hunger Games event that takes place in that world is rather inconsequential within the larger dystopian world we are witnessing. You obviously have no idea what these books and films are actually about if you think they should have ended with the 2nd installment. And I haven't even read the books! Having seen the 3rd film, I now know how much deeper the themes and meaning of the source material run. Without Mockingjay the entire series would be almost entirely "fluff."

I'm curious... how do you feel about George Orwell's 1984? Or how about Aldous Huxley's Brave New World? Because, according to you, they would have been better if they were printed without the last 100 pages.

Leaving the entire series on a huge cliffhanger?

Mockingjay is still better than The Hunger Games, as that was a mess at some points in the movie. Lawrence is doing a much better job at directing than Ross did.

Yeah, cause that's a nice way of basically going to the bathroom in the faces of the fans.

That's cause of his last name.

I could imagine this guy reading or watching Fellowship of the Ring and think it should end as soon as Frodo chooses to carry the ring to Mordor.

You mean like they watched a couple minutes and then went online to imdb to vote it the best thing they had ever seen?

Yes. At least once anyway. I actually like Clerks II more. but that's cause I've worked in a fast food place and have been in their positions in the movie.
