![]() Indy is my favorite film franchise of all time and I thoroughly enjoy all four movies to varying degrees. I would love a fifth film with Ford as a proper send off for the character. Indiana Jones will always be Harrison Ford, not saying I wouldn't see a reboot but it'd be hard for me to accept it as the same character. |

Ford is Indy for me just like Shatner and Nimoy are the only Kirk and Spock. I will go see any Indiana Jones film with Ford but will skip any reboot/remake without him like I will be doing with the next Star Trek film and should have done with with the first two. A reboot won't make me love the first three films any less.

If Hollywood resists Ingruber for young Solo or Indy, they're just being stubborn for the sake of it. On the other hand, it might conceivably tarnish his fledgling career by being labelled as the young Ford by reprising his most iconic roles, but it's not a bad job. Depends on if he fears being typecast which is a danger. |

BD, i'd lost all faith in the Star Trek film franchise after Jonathan Frakes turning in one-too-many big-screen tlevision episodes. Trek 2009 gave the franchise it's biggest kick up the arse since Wrath of Khan injected some energy and action into the sequence after The Motion Picture. Abrams directing an Indy film? If Spielberg was to give it his blessing and Produce rather than direct i can't see a problem with it. But Ford is getting on in years, so do it now or consider the series finished.

And in my opinion, if you analyze response to the film on various forums, what I think you'll find is that the majority thought that Shia was absolutely terrible. I certainly thought that. IMO, he brought nothing to the character and even though he didn't grow up under Indy's influence, it's almost impossible to believe that he was Indy's son. I don't know why they thought having Shia play an idiot was a good idea, other than since we're largely a nation of idiots, they thought the audience could relate to him. Cate Blanchett was purposely playing a cartoon character. I thought she was wonderful in that role and she was probably the best actor in the film. As I've posted before, I thought Ford was terrible in this movie. He seemed like a bad actor trying to do a Harrison Ford impersonation. Look at the quicksand scene - all of his reactions look mechanical and contrived, like high school acting. Ford is much better than that. I know he wanted to do the movie, but once he got on the set maybe the fact that Spielberg wasn't into it caused him not to be into it either. Although Ford has made some bad films of late, he proved in "42" that he could be a great actor. "V" needs an amazing script and a good director who will bring something new into it. It doesn't necessarily need big effects and it definitely doesn't need another fight sequence in or on a car. And no aliens or "multi-dimensional" beings. I think it needs to be about Indy going to find the last "lost civilization" either in South America or in Africa. |

I hope they do Darabont's script for the fifth with Spielberg in the directors chair were he belongs. Tintin proves he's not lost his touch for creative action sequences and pure movie magic.

True. He can't be any worse than most of his contemporaries. Plus, he'll have that hunger to succeed because he doesn't have a huge TV show behind him, or he hasn't grown up as a child actor. That desire can take a person really far IMO and help them reach places in their performance that can't be replicated by some complacent pretty boy who's never heard the word "no" in his life.

Honestly I think it's foolish to cast someone simply because they're the spitting image of Ford. Having someone who looks just like Ford is only gonna make his absence that much more pronounced, regardless of the performance. Their best bet is to go with someone who can at least capture the spirit of the character, not just the Ford-isms. I just dunno who that actor would be (I still lean towards Bradley Cooper, but he's not a perfect choice).
