People like tributes, but not if they’re too cheesy like the originals. Just look at the mall opening scene on WA84. I think they amped up the cheese on purpose, but it seemed to have gone over most audiences heads. Same with Mutt monkey swinging.

Seeing the latest images showing all the Nazi vehicles at the castle, that would seem to dispel the idea they are resurrecting Chris Columbus's original Indy III opening with the Scottish ghost. (Re-reading it again, it could have made for a pretty exciting and spooky sequence.) It must be serving as a Nazi compound instead.

Using Nazi's again is so lame. About like them using another Death Star in TFA. Like...really? Such a lack of imagination. But that's Disney for you, just regurgitating the things you love with no rhyme or reason.

Maybe you'd prefer the bad guys to be Disney employees then. Indiana Jones and the Rodent Castle

That is a better title.

One interesting thing: They haven't provided Ford with a wig here, as he is sporting his own grey hair, which could mean either they believe the hat will cover enough of his own hair in the final shots - or they are going with a complete CG head replacement like Tarkin or young Will Smith in Gemini Man (which was done by Weta).

Who was it who did the de-ageing of Clark Gregg and Samuel L Jackson in Captain Marvel? Because I thought that was pretty impressive.

To be honest, I don't like the magic being so physical in The Last Crusade either. As I said in my lengthy criticism of the movie last week.

"A knight has been with the grail for seven hundred years. How did he not go mad? That whole story stretches my suspension of disbelief farther than anything in the prior movies. What is his reaction after Jones tells him that he has been there for so long? Not shock or sadness or any kind of believable human emotion.
On the BIB, haven’t you answered your own point?

Nasty Disney. Left to his own devices, George Lucas would never have stooped to anything so crass as using another Death Star in a Star Wars film or using Nazis again in another Indiana Jones film.

I’m always ok with Nazi’s being vilified in movies. So I’m fine with this movie making them villains again.

Last Crusade is set in 1939, when Nazi's were a threat. As far as we know, this is set in the 1960's, I guess, when Nazi's weren't really a threat.

Lucas used a second Death Star as a metaphor for the Empire's lack of imagination and practically as a way to do the space battle he always wanted to do in ANH. Abrams did it because he wanted to copy ANH and needed a planet killing weapon. It has no purpose, just like the entire ST, but that's another thread...

There's just so many more threats Indy could face off than Nazi's. That's what I love so much about Temple of Doom. It doesn't need Nazi's or Soviets. The whole film's about a religious cult and magic stones. It's so beautifully pulpy. Disney is only using Nazi's because to them it's an essential part of the iconography. The same way that there's still an Empire and TIE Fighters and X-Wings in the ST...even though there really shouldn't be.

That would make sense. But I would imagine someone with an accent. Not that father and son can’t have different accents.

If we find out that Indy is in hiding the entire film and only appears in the last scene I will rip my seat from the floor and charge the screen. So be looking at the news on opening night.

It would appear nothing has been learned from Star Wars. If you go into a movie with a story you've already made up in your head beforehand, you're gonna have a bad time with the actual movie.
