I didn't notice that right away. You're right. So he does. I stand corrected for this scene at least. It is a flashback then.

The first set of leaked pictures he's wearing a mask, but didn't see any on the ones that showed the side of his face.

Is that scene with
[Show spoiler]Toby Young
meant to have a Young Indy?

He's got the tracking dots so I guess so. Read that Toby Jones might be playing Abner Ravenwood.

Yup, there are tracking markers on his face and shoulders. But none on the other actor, so he probably won't be around in present time.

Man, he looks tired.

But I guess that $20 million paycheck will buy him another plane or something.

Another interesting point about the potential look of the film:

Indy 5 takes place roughly in the same time period as Ford vs. Ferrari, and both movies are shot by Phedon Papamichael on Arri Alexa LFs, perhaps also using the Panavision anamorphic lenses Phedon used on Ford. As they are shooting Indy on digital, and probably want to match the look of the four previous movies pretty closely, this also means adding digital grain as on Ford.

Very curious to see if they are going to emulate 35mm Eastman/Kodak Vision grain more closely or will be going with the Super Panavision 70 look used in Ford vs. Ferrari.

Wasn't a fan of the digital-for-film look on FvF, so I really hope Mangold and Papamichael aren't going down that route again. Especially since my only major gripe with Crystal Skull is how it's so different visually from the original three, so I was hoping Indy 5 would be more of a return to Slocombe's style.

He has talked about how much he likes making Indiana Jones movies so I don't think he is doing this just for the money. He really wanted to do this even after Spielberg didn't want to direct and Lucas isn't involved. He is probably the main reason why this movie is being made.

That doesn't fit with the lore and the Nazi insignia that we've seen from the set photos. Indy and Abner became estranged long before the Nazis rose to power.

I kind of agree. Most of the movie I just find mediocre and depressing, but that fake looking truck chase with the monkey swinging is so bad and the science fiction element doesn't work for me either.

To be honest, I don't like the magic being so physical in The Last Crusade either. As I said in my lengthy criticism of the movie last week.

"A knight has been with the grail for seven hundred years. How did he not go mad? That whole story stretches my suspension of disbelief farther than anything in the prior movies. What is his reaction after Jones tells him that he has been there for so long? Not shock or sadness or any kind of believable human emotion.

"I much preferred the magic in Indiana Jones being more incorporeal."

Totally respect your opinion. I think the Monkey swinging and the sci-fi element fit well with the films set in the time period (1950's). It's a solid tribute to 1950's b movies.
