What do you mean, what is it? What we have here is a 79 year old man realizing he can't throw punches as he did when he was forty without damaging something. Stuff like this should be expected. Yet people keep saying his age doesn't matter. The movie will show it matters.

Ford seems to get injured a lot on movie sets. Just off the top of my head, I know that he blew out his knee filming Raiders and again during the Fugitive, suffered herniated discs during Temple of Doom, broke his leg during Force Awakens and now this shoulder injury.

The difference is some of these is that he could/wanted to keep filming. He limps throughout the Fugitive because he didn’t have surgery until after the film wrapped. But, something like a broken leg obviously makes it harder to continue filming.

To me, if an actor wants to do the stunts, why not? If the actor is willing to do it, then I’m willing to deal with delays of an anticipated movie. Look at Tom Cruise for example… sure he broke his ankle during M:I 6… but damn… seeing HIM (opposed to a stunt double) do it?? Com’on.

Stunt doubles are great, and in some cases very needed. But, the use of doubles does take me out of the film/moment for a second.

One of the worst is in T2 when “Arnold” is doing the motorcycle/truck chase. I totally get why Arnold wasn’t actually on the bike, but, the use of the stunt double was so glaringly obvious… maybe deep fake technology will make that less of an issue going forward.

Hope Ford recovers quickly.

This was altered with CG face replacement on the 4K/ 3D release of T2. Hollywood movies tend not to use deepfake technology.

Is it a rights issue for footage from older movies?

Not with his heavy accent. Plus he’s not a big enough star to do this series, IF they do more, which is doubtful for the foreseeable future.

I don't think Hollywood understands it either. That's why Lucasfilm just hired a famed YouTube deepfaker this year. He announced it on his channel. The guy who put Tom Selleck's face on Indiana Jones and made it look perfect. He also did a makeover on Irishman that looks great. Shamook announced in the comments of his last video that he won't be posting new videos as often because he was hired by Lucasfilm this year.

Mail Online has shared a very interesting rumour that we're sure at least some fans won't be happy about. According to the site, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is being eyed to take over from Ford as the new face of Indiana Jones. Apparently, she plays Indy's assistant in this fifth instalment, but the Fleabag star would then become the franchise's first female lead in future movies.

The site notes that, "Insiders claim Kathleen Kennedy, the Hollywood producer behind the franchise, is keen to make 'big, bold' changes – with few bigger than switching the lead character to a woman." One source adds, "It would be a huge statement, and a great role for Phoebe." ∆

Honestly, we didn't really need this Indiana Jones movie. I don't think we need any more after this, regardless of who's starring. If they do decide to continue it, though, I'd prefer a new character over a recast Indy, though it'd be pretty hard to have a new person be the focus when the series is named after the old one.
