Was there not once a script for an Indy movie set in a haunted Scottish castle? That would be awesome.

No, Spielberg is pretty much in control of the film. Lucas was really hands off, he only provided the story. The only thing Spielberg didn't agree was the MacGuffin and that was at the early writing stage.

Have you read Darabont's script? It really is not that good in my opinion, and still, aliens.

A few weeks ago, I agreed. Completely. Now, I changed my mind. Ingruber played the younger Ford in The Age of Adaline and ... it worked. Not one second I was thing that he was doing an impression, he just has the same spirit and he looks like Ford. I was afraid I was going to dislike it, seeing someone who tries to act like Ford. But that wasn't the case at all. I don't want him to replace Ford and become the new Indiana Jones, I just want him to play the younger version in a final adventure including Ford, Mr. Holmes style, but with more adventure, ofcours.

Then I gotta check that Adaline movie out. Not exactly my cup of tea but if he's really this good then it'll be worth seeing.

Steven Spielberg is probably going to direct another Indiana Jones film. There has been talk of rebooting the franchise — rumors that have always been quickly shot down — but Spielberg and Harrison Ford seem intent on making a fifth installment in the series. One day someone will probably fill Ford’s shoes in the lead. A reboot is bound to happen. But don’t expect the role to be recast anytime soon.

After the jump, Spielberg explains why there’s only one Indiana Jones.

If and when they do recast the character, Disney and Lucasfilm is going to have a tough time finding an actor who can match the charisma Ford originally brought to the role. But as of this moment, the character still belongs to the 73-year-old actor. Speaking with Screen Daily, Spielberg says he doesn’t believe another actor will ever play the role, especially in the next Indy adventure we see:

Quote:
I don’t think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy. I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. It’s certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman. There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones, and that’s Harrison Ford.
Following Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, many fans are asking: why bother making another Indiana Jones film? Here’s Spielberg’s answer to that question:

Quote:
Because there are more adventures out there than films. So as long as there’s more adventures out there, I’ve got a bullwhip, a fedora, a leather jacket and a man on a horse who knows how to get the job done.
It’s somewhat understandable if people have lost interest in the character after Crystal Skull, and believe it’s time to hang up the fedora and leather jacket. But, to be fair, Spielberg is 3 for 4 with this franchise, and the next installment wouldn’t involve George Lucas. The odds of Spielberg repeating the same mistake twice are slim, and it’d be great to see the director and his star end this series on a high-note. As for Ford, he told The Guardian, while promoting a little something called Star Wars: The Force Awakens, that he’d love to return to the character:

Quote:
Yeah, I’d love to do another Indiana Jones. A character that has a history and a potential, kind of a rollicking good movie ride for the audience, Steven Spielberg as a director — what’s not to like?

If adore another film or two with Harrison. The man is looking great, loves the character, and is willing. Just do it already.

Well they better get on it soon, because once you hit a certain age you can go from being in relatively good health to being on death's door in a short amount of time. Remember Paul Newman!

Maybe if the kid they get to replace Harrison in the Star Wars Han Solo spin off movie does good enough, that actor may be able to assume the role of Indy under Disney. As much as many haters would hate to see it, I do think Chris Pratt would have more of the humor ( to fit in with today's youth ) and a serious enough side to pull it off.

As far as Harrison goes...I say do as many as you can, while you can.

I'd love to see Fate of Atlantis on the big screen, been waiting since the pc game out...or at least something to do with Atlantis. It's the one big myth the franchise hasn't tapped in on yet..King Arthur, Ancient Tribes and Aliens, Area 51, The Lost Ark, The Holy Grail.....all that's left of the major mysteries is the Bermuda Triangle and/or Atlantis.

So Skull was all George Lucas' fault?

It's not even a bad film to begin with. Both from critics and box office returns.

Yes. Yes it was. He was the one that argued for aliens.

Is it awful? No. It's not prequel-bad. But it's not good. Not by a long shot.

I quite like it honestly. The hate for the "aliens" is ridiculous. We have shamanistic cults, cups of everlasting life, and mystical face melting boxes, but aliens are a no go? Shia isn't even bad in the film.

The only things wrong were the jokey tone (removing all sense of danger from the film) and the abhorrent digital sheen applied to the film in post production. Those, and of course, the cgi animals.
