We all know the Smoking Man shot JFK, this debate is silly

But the idea of Indy battling government conspiracies has a certain appeal to it, it could play into the Cold War paranoia of the time far more than KotCS did.

I love Indy but I really think they should just not bother with this. Reboot by all means but not Ford again, not when he will be 76 at the time of release.

They should have rebooted Indy LONG ago and not made Crystal Skull.

I like the idea of seeing Ford do it one more time. If they can create a film that allows Ford to hand it off to the next actor, so to speak, then this could be the perfect way for him to go out.

The sentimentalist in me, and probably the fact I myself am getting older having grown up with a youthful Ford/Indy as a little kid, has warmed up to the idea of one last go with Indiana Jones. Even despite the atrocity that was Crystal Skull IMHO. Ford still has star power and has not been oversaturated in recent years so fans want to see him, he is in demand and as Force Awakens proved, his star power still helps but more than that - nostalgia and genre fandom is where the $ is right now. People love Indy. Like with SW, fans are willing to forgive the underwhelming recent outings to embrace hope and that old feeling of adventurous awe again. So sign me up. SW, Blade Runner and now Indy. Age is just a #. (Not a hashtag)

I'm going to guess this will take place in the 1960's. Any possible guesses as to what the relic Indy is searching for might be and how it'll tie in to the time period.

Considering his age, perhaps the Fountain of Youth?

And then they mess it up and in ten years when he's in his 80s people will say, "It will be nice to see him once more and hand it off."

If only Disney owned Jaws as well then we could get the 5th Jones and the 5th Jaws movie all at once and see Indy fight a huge shark.

It could be good if they do it properly to give the character a sendoff. If they want to use this to launch a new series of films with someone else, it will probably be horrible because they will want to push that character so much that they will overrun everything. Besides, do we really want a series without the same people involved? Not every character needs to be recast and rebooted, some are allowed to just fade away and leave a legacy.

Neither are good, but a reboot is even worse.

Nah, Indy was always serialised adventures, I'd be happy for some interesting young blood to take the reigns and have some exciting new adventures

Well, they did that with Last Crusade and then messed that up.

The reboot/recast thing has actually worked out favorably for Hollywood movies. Just last year, Jurassic World (which I hated, but that's aside from the point), Mad Max, and Star Wars were the three biggest films and they were mostly met with an overall positive reception. You know what movie nobody likes to talk about from last year? Terminator Genisys.

At this point, if Indy 5 is even a smidgeon better than those two, I'll be satisfied.

Terminator Genisys made the blu ray forum best of the year list!

I love that movie and talk about it any chance I get.

The main problem with Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull is the MacGuffin is the entire story, it drives the entire film from the first scene to the end of the movie.

The MacGuffin's importance is seen as a major attraction by Lucas, whilst Hitchcock thought it was just a tease to more consequential things. Lucas's attitude seems to have changed over the years as the original three movies MacGuffins were quite unimportant to the overall story (Indy loses two of them and gives the stones back to the villagers), but by the time he wrote KotCS it was of paramount importance.
