Okay, let's go metacritic.

Now Boyhood is the best movie ever made, because it sits right now at 100/100.
It took 12 years to make, so I guess that's fair.

And Crystal Skull is actually at 65/100. According to "reviewers" better than Temple of Doom (57/100). *sigh*

Roger Ebert gave The Phantom Menace 3 1/2 stars.

Critics, even good ones, can be as susceptible to getting swept up in the initial hype wave of a big movie as fans are.

Crystal Skull is a bad movie in every way.

If Roger Ebert was still alive, I'd bet my entire blu-ray collection that he'd like a do over on that one.

The man was also very ill and had lost his voice and went through many terrible surgeries. If you read his reviews at the time you would know he was susceptible to giving movies a positive review. What made Ebert great was how earnest he was in his love of movies. Doesn't mean his opinion was right, but his sincerity made him great. The man never came off pretentious like so many other movie critics do.

A good critic will be able to tell you if you'll like or hate the movie regardless of what he or she thinks of said movie. Ebert was able to do that for most of his career. You could tell he liked a lot of Angelina Jolie, Neve Campbell and Jennifer Lopez movies just because they were Angelina Jolie, Neve Campbell and Jennifer Lopez. But you could also tell by his reviews that they weren't great movies.

GET IT TOGETHER DISNEY!!!

Ford = Indy and Han
Shatner = Kirk
Nimoy = Spock

Others are impostors making fake films.

Hopefully Spielberg and Ford make a great film that can have Indy riding off into the sunset and the character can be retired.
I see what you're saying, but are you a fan of 007? That James Bond series has definitely opened my mind to accepting different interpretations of the same character in movies. Sometimes a movie series can have an awesome character that can live well beyond the original actor's age. Batman, Superman, all of those series would be extinct as movies if no one else could fill those roles.

In the case of Indiana Jones, we haven't seen a grown up version try to match or interpret Harrison Ford's performance, so it's up in the air right now how that would turn out.

------
I will be kind of relieved if they don't continue the story with Shia LeBeouff as an Indy character/son. They were hinting at Chris Pratt, but that was a long while ago.

Indy 5 will hopefully be released 2019 as planned, and I imagine Ford as Indy will be a main character, but will no doubt be accompanied by other new characters as we saw Han Solo was in SWVII. This may be the first time Lucas is not involved with an Indy film.

That is completely different. Showing him as a kid is different than someone taking over at as the age we know him mainly as. A flashback has to have a younger actor.

That honestly sounds like the best idea, I hope they do something like that. No idea who would play Indy, TBH I think he's a more difficult character to play and more identifiable with Ford than Han Solo is.
Isn't that the exact same thing they're doing with the new Die Hard movie??

Magneto was only there to deflect Indy's bullet.

I'd rather see this than a crappy reboot starring a pretty boy like Miles Teller and directed by some hack filmmaker who's fresh off some overrated indie film.

Let's be grateful for legends like Harrison Ford reprising their iconic roles while they're still around. I wouldn't be surprised if Ford's been setting up his retirement by reprising all 3 of his iconic roles one last time.

What an epic way to end a career if that ends up being the case.

For the same reason Leonard Maltin gave Memento *½ and The Shining **. Critics are stupid.
