Otherwise, they could have this be Indy's final adventure with Harrison Ford.
They backed Indy's character in the corner now with the fact he has a son and his married in the Crystal Skull so it be interesting how they get around this in Indiana Jones 5 and how to deal with Fords age too.

I don't mind if they continue down the Indy's son route as long as they get someone good to play his son.

Well seeing as Indy's such an older man at this point, I doubt they're going to continue doing the "bond girl" approach and have some new love interest character. I wouldn't mind if Marion was back in the film, probably just briefly and not as a main supporting character, and Mutt Williams should just remain completely gone-- he can be either off at school or running a motorcycle shop or whatever. As long as he's not there.

I still say the opening shot should be of Indy and Marion standing over Mutt's grave. They drop some flowers on it and then leave and the movie gets going.

He was their son. I don't think much of CS, but that's such a cold thing to do.

Depending on when the film is set, I'd have another minor character bring up Mutt's death (if that's the way they decide to handle his absence) to Indy, and he appears to be quite sad about being reminded about it. Then have him say it's been tough, etc, and then move on.

They might have Mutt die (off-screen) in the Vietnam war if the film is set in the early 60's?

Man, people really hate Mutt and Shia. I don't think the actor or character were really the problem, more the silly stuff they had him do and say, but then I'm a Skull defender in general.

People don't care about Paramount's Mountain like they do Fox's Fanfare.

CinemaCon: Frank Marshall Open to $50 Home Movies; Won't Replace Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones

Quote:
Speaking of Matt Damon’s portrayal of Jason Bourne — Marshall produced the newest installment in the Bourne series, Jason Bourne, which Universal will release July 29 — as well as plans for the new Indiana Jones movie, Marshall suggested he has no intention of recruiting other actors to take on the iconic roles, saying he "will not do the Bond thing" with the characters. "We think those actors are the only ones who can play them."

Of the Indiana Jones sequel, he added, “We’re just getting the deal together and planning to bring on a writer. It’s going to be two to three years. This will be an original idea; but we have the character and it’s not prequel but continuing since the last one.”

Spielberg always said that finding the MacGuffin and story is Lucas' job. I wonder if he has done the same for this ones for old times sake.

Ever since Disney took over Skywalker ranch hes been in hiding, we need to find the bit of the map which leads us to him.

I though Shia was perfectly fine, and as far as I am concerned INDY 4 is it. The way it plays is a lot like JOHN RAMBO and ROCKY BALBOA. The story was designed for closure: Indy has a son, marries Marion and gets to retire. The End. There is no need for another INDY movie, especially being that Harrison was already pretty old in the last movie 8 years ago.

How about just make a damn good Indiana Jones movie and forget about continuity? No need for any re-occuring characters except for Harrison Ford. Temple of Doom is stand-alone so they can do the same for the next one. Or at least bring Sallah in the film.

I read the summaries of all the Indiana Jones comic books and novels. Many are basically been-there-done-that but one book could be made better as a movie: Indiana Jones and the Unicorn's Legacy. Since we have an even older Indiana Jones, I think it's time for a 1980s period piece and we all know what was popular in the 80s: unicorns. 1980s movies are in now anyway. Im curious if Spielberg can even capture that time period accurately even as he made tons of classics during the 1980s. It's possible he cant capture that tone and look. It's also time for just a fun silly movie that doesnt connect to any damn conspiracy or world domination plot: that's the 1980s.

He realizes that most people like The Force Awakens so he is going to put a stop to that with the new Indy.

“Right now, we’re focused on a reboot, or a continuum and then a reboot of some sort,” Iger told the Hollywood Reporter in an extended interview. He seemed a bit confused about what the words mean.

“Well, we’ll bring [Harrison Ford] back, then we have to figure out what comes next. That’s what I mean. It’s not really a reboot, it’s a boot—a reboot. I don’t know.”

Iger then said, while he doesn’t expect Indiana Jones to be as large of a franchise as Star Wars, they will make more than just the one film. “I don’t think it reaches the scale of the universe of Star Wars, but I see making more. It won’t be just a one-off.”

Cutting through all of that, basically Iger said this: They’re making Indiana Jones 5 with Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg. That’s the “continuum.” From there, they’ll try a “reboot,” or at least “more” Indiana Jones films.

Read more of the extended interview with Iger at the below link, in which he also says Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is “a fine film.” Hmm.
