Never seen the TV series, and having Indy played by River Phoenix in a flashback is different than having him completely recast.

The Mummy (99), Tomb Raider... These franchises aren't Indiana Jones, but are very similar. Cmon Hollywood. Stop trying to kill existing IP's, and create something similar but different and new.

I enjoyed both Tomb Raider versions. Granted none of them have been masterpieces, but I found them fun and enjoyable to watch.

Then again, I was addicted to the game. So, really, it's not that surprising.

Two different actors, Old Indy was played by George Hall, and young Indy by Sean Patrick Flannery. Harrison Ford even appeared on the TV show.

Other franchises have replaced leads with success: James Bond and Doctor Who immediately come to mind. On the other hand, Harrison Ford has been the face of Indiana Jones since 1981 (38 years). If the series continues post-Ford, and it will if Indy 5 is successful, it should be a new actor playing a new character within the Indiana Jones world such as a younger professor in the Archaeology Department. Mutt was never a good choice since Indiana Jones has always been a PhD, not a dropout.

I do worry that in a post Spielberg/Lucas series the general feel of the character will change.. If that were to happen, the franchise would be just another adventure series.

Man, they need a secondary lead. Harrison Ford is literally too old for his shit. Even in The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford looked like he was struggling to run in that.
