Probably typo, but I find that hard to believe that Variety doesn't proof-read before publishing articles.

I would like it to be true, maybe West Side Story's filming has been rescheduled?

We would have heard something about the postponement, as WSS is a major production; and we'd definitely have heard casting news and related stuff about IJ5 if it were to start shooting in a few days.

A lot of reporters seem to have no idea what reboot/remake/sequel mean anymore. I remember seeing articles that referred to The Force Awakens as a reboot.

West Side Story is not rescheduled. I just had a fitting for it in the last few days. They start in less than 2 weeks.

Okay, so they actually are rebooting with another director. Ford is playing a mentor role to Mutt.

It is hard to imagine that Disney will be providing:
1) Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford.
2) Star Wars with no Skywalkers or ties to Skywalkers.
3) Pirates of the Caribbean without Jack Sparrow.

I assume Harrison Ford will be in Indy 5, but either the action would be toned down (that would be bad) or he will need to mentor a younger colleague (who would eventually take over the franchise). If not handled properly, this could be another "Solo" fiasco.

For better or worse, I don't see Disney failing to capitalize on their expensive intellectual properties

Well Ford's not getting any younger. Hope they do a flashback sequence in this one with the new de-aging tech, probably set between the events of Last Crusade and KOTCS.

The difference between Bond, Batman etc is that those personalities existed in other media beforehand, whereas Ford helped to create Indiana Jones with his performance. That's probably why he feels precious about it - other people would just be mimicking him. He seems okay with younger versions of his characters, though.

I’d really like to see further adventures with Indiana Jones. If that’s to happen, it’s a given that the role will have to go others. And I hope they don’t go with Indy’s daughter/son/sibling/ghost adventures.

I'll reiterate that once Ford's done, I'm done. I have nothing against a re-cast or the series continuing on in some fashion, but I just don't have any interest in seeing Indy played by anyone other than Ford. The new generation can enjoy their version of Indiana Jones, and we'll always have ours.

I would rather Hollywood create a new character in a new great film. Stop looking to the past and trying to recreate the magic, it almost never works. Let Indy die with Harrison.
