Well put.

One piece of recommendation: I would avoid using a pseudo-kana English font (because it looks terrible).

Thanks for your recommendation. I actually like the font and quite s few people PM'd me and said they like it as well. To each his own though-everybody has different tastes.

I wasn't trying to insult anyonee, more seeking an explanation for WHY you enjoy them. That's all.

Love it ! The only thing I would take out if I could was the Roger Ebert quote.

Great look.

Not yet as I want to make sure everything prints ok first. Also just want to throw out a reminder that I am making these for criterion sized cases.

Agreed. Also the font is very Fast and Furious, which might give the wrong idea. But this is a great design.

Speaking of websites, anyone have any recommendations for free image hosting? I was unaware Imageshack has switched to a free trial/pay-to-upload subscription model. Is Photobucket still free?

Just as I was finishing up a new cover.

I'm working on some Godzilla customs myself, again using the 'Framing' idea that Classic media used for their DVD's and Kraken are using for their blu's - it's simply the best way to make the original Japanese poster art work on Blu's.

Still a long way to go, but it's coming along.

Background texture is by redwolf518stock on deviantart.

for those of you who create these, what's the hardest part for you?

layout?
picking which photos you want to use?
something else?

just genuinely curious because everyone seems to have such creative ideas. it'd be cool to select a movie and have all those who create to come up with something, just to see how different (or similar) everyone approaches it

Backs are the hardest. Between choosing what and how much info to show, what images to use, legibility and looking "close enough" to be professional, I think the back layout is killer.
