That person/persons are complete idiots. Never seen so much FUD about HDR in one place, and that's saying something.

Is there any info on whether LoA will get a singular release? The box set with the other Columbia flicks looks nice but I don't want all of those films and I also heard some folks say that Taxi Driver might end up in one of these which I would be bummed by if I can't get it by itself.

I don't know but they are selling them separately on eBay but don't know if the price will be to your liking. LOA is going for close to $50 that it almost makes the 4K boxset look like a good deal. If they include Taxi Driver on UHD in a boxset like this expect to pay around $30 to $40 seperately I would say. LOA is just a very sought after UHD. I bit on this boxset for LOA and JM, ALOTO, Gandhi.

If the next boxset includes As Good As It Gets and Taxi Driver, I would buy it without hesitation. I admit with this boxset I was a little on the fence but LOA is selling for $50 seperately on eBay it's almost worth it for the boxset now. I waited to see prices seperately but meh.

Knew his video was trash when he started playing Jump Force. Bruh, play another shounen fighting game if you want to play one- DBFZ is way better.

But onto the video, good lord- that was painful to watch.

The best part is it's a shitty SDR YouTube video to begin with but even so he switches to SDR and is all "LOOK HOW MUCH BETTER THE COLORS ARE" and I'm just thinking...that's an oversaturated mess, it looks awful.

I’m going to have to dedicate some time over the weekend to properly get stuck into the CC set and finally watch LoA. I can’t wait to watch and constantly notice it’s flaws due to this thread

So we are using a Video game to describe a film print/negative transfer where more detail is frowned upon?

I don't need which I am more baffled with. Someone using a youtube clip to prove a point on what your 4K television is doing, or the fact that he is using that same delivery component to say that more detail and dynamic color range is a bad thing.

All I gotta say is that anyone flocking to that obvious hit and miss supposed detail jump in the obvious inferior streaming mess can go to it as far as I am concerned. You can't fix what is going on there.

I would watch LOA again, but then again I got so many more fantastic releases to get through.

You posted a link saying 9 times out of 10 SDR is better than HDR and HDR is marketing BS.

With a foundation like that there is not much to build on.

I would certainly don't see a case for neutrality.

HDR is perceived to be better, so I like to see how much better it is esp. wrt colors. I also like to see the latest transfer of a title to achieve its full potential. If a transfer esp. of a catalog is good on SDR, I want HDR implementation to enhance it and not mar it for any reason.

Posting a link to a video does not equate to me agreeing with every word someone says on the video. I am not sure if SDR is 9 times out of 10 better as I have not done any specific evaluation of 10 titles apart from following such discussions online/ on youtube, but if it then it is good for the underdog! .... As for JW2, I gifted the SDR blu-ray that came with the UHD assuming that UHD would be automatically superior and that I would not need the SDR version so have not done a comparison on it too but assuming that the video by a calibrator is more or less accurate and some type of opinion (whatever it is) can be formed from it.

I am not on any bandwagon to feel melancholic if either SDR or HDR is better as I am open to simply watching the better version

I totally agree. I don't even care what someone wants to watch. I don't pay their bills.

But there is a big difference when someone says total manure like HDR is just a "gimmick".

A wider color gamut is a fact. Anyone that says that nonsense I tune out.

As for anything being automatically superior, well that doesn't make sense. No format or process is guaranteed. Anyone and I mean anyone that bets on that just doeesn't understand the nature of the formats since the beginning of motion picture.

If you don't research and think realistically you are bound to be let down. As for 9 out of 10 as Paulie would say on the Sopranos "Get the... outta here"

The idea should be to watch our favorite title in its best form or at times in its most optimized for value if differences are marginal.

On WCG, there are heatmaps posted on some threads to suggest that not every title or frame benefits from it. Usually, it is the shades of red and orange if I recall correctly.

Currently, I am rewatching Hannibal, the TV series, (I have Hannibal the film on UHD as I wanted to support the first attempt by a studio like Kino. While The Silence of the Lambs is on Criterion. I like both transfers), and I like how it looks. If it were to get an HDR treatment, I would want it to be enhanced not diminished
