The lure of the desert: Martin Scorsese (interesting)
King Hussein visits set (mildly interesting)
In love with the desert (kind of slow and long)
Lawrence at 50: a classic restored
Archival interviews: Steven Spielberg (1998), William Friedkin (2007), Sidney Pollack (2007)
[The older Spielberg interview is different than his "conversation"]
Vintage trailers: 1962 theatrical, theatrical teasers 1 & 2, 70 mm restoration (1989), TV spots 1 & 2.

Now all is well here and below you will find the photographic evidence to prove it: the original LOA four-disc blu-ray case is getting along just fine with the newly adapted LOA 4K UHD four-disc keepcase. * A special thank you to Geoff D for the idea of obtaining said Deadpool 2 4K UHD keepcase to properly house the four-disc LOA 4K UHD set.
The new bonus disc actually replaces TWO bonus discs of the four-disc set. Disc 2 of that set was the same as the bonus disc in the regular BD release, which was copied as the 4K edition's original bonus disc. The additional bonuses on the replacement disc were the ones on Disc 3 of the four-disc set. (There were also two separate versions of Wind, Sand and Star; the 1970 version was on Disc 2, while the original 1963 version was on Disc 3. Both are on the replacement disc.)

Alas, I'm gonna need two 4-disc keepcases; the BD one in my four-disc set cracked when I was shuffling parts of it around recently.

Of the 4 discs that come with the 4K set, Blu-ray disc 1 is the only one with the "Secrets of Arabia" text & still photo bonuses. The replacement disc 2 has all the features of the old disc 2 from the 4K set plus some omitted extras from an earlier set.
So the 4K set still has 4 discs: 4K disc 1 is part 1 of the film with the prologue as an extra, 4K disc 2 is part 2 of the film, Blu-ray extras disc 1 is "Secrets of the Desert," and Blu-ray extras disc 2 has about a dozen interviews, behind the scenes features, and trailers.

I haven't asked Amazon or Sony because I just assumed they'd get to me eventually. Nope. I'd appreciate it, but knowing how little I watch special features, I probably wouldn't watch the disc anyway.

The "four-disc set" I was referring to is the "earlier set" you referred to -- the set inside the LD-sized boxset from 2012. Disc 1 of that set was the movie with the "Secrets of Arabia" picture-in-graphics, same as Disc 1 of the regular release *and* the first BD of this release. It had TWO bonus-only discs (not counting Disc 1); Disc 2 was same as the regular release (and the original bonus disc here), while Disc 3 was exclusive to that set till now. (The fourth disc there was a soundtrack CD.)

The whole reason for this replacement was Sony had promised the Disc 3 extras from the 2012 LD set as well as those on Discs 1 & 2, yet only delivered a re-pressing of Discs 1 & 2 as the BDs. The replacement disc contains all the extras from both Discs 2 & 3 of the LD set remastered onto a single BD.

Why would Amazon be involved in a discussion at all?

From most retailers, this communication came in the form of a sheet or sticker in the box telling us to call or email Sony, so you should do that if you ever want to see it.

Received mine today, inside a box that could easily have held three or four copies of the actual box set.

Today I received an EU version (the Dutch/French version) of the Columbia Classics vol.1 4K.
No slipcases, but no biggie there.
Popped in the LoA bonus disc first to have a quick look, and yes, all the special features are on the bonus disc. No replacement necessary.
I checked this thread to find the complete list and was overwhelmed by all the ...what should one call it... regular forum bickering, regarding the transfer.

First I saw this one:

It´s obvious that the streaming version has more fine detail, despite being heavily compressed. That means the original file for the streaming version had even better quality and a fine layer of grain which is gone because of the compression. If the all the reviewers say this UHD release is so good, then what´s the technical explanation for this difference?Sure they can explain it, with all their knowledge.
And yes, I´ve compared both the screenshots from the disc and the disc and they have the same sharpness.

Initially I thought "Oh no, it can't be". Stayed calm. Popped in my UHD. Played it on my Oppo and watched some of it on my LG E6 65".
The screencaps look nothing like what I saw at home. So, nothing's f**ked, Dude.
In fact, it looks more like the caps from streaming version, with great color and detail and contrast.
So I knew straight away that the so-called UHD caps in this link are not correct.

A bit later in the thread:

Haha, yep! I did the downscale-upscale test to the UHD. It's 100% the 1080p version.

I smell mistake.

Thank you to Geoff for the idea
Uhuh.
Mistake in the grabbing of the caps.
Then again....

I liked it much better as a 70mm printout, than the way it looks at home. Looked more natural.
I just don't understand. I see great and really saturated color and plenty of detail on my UHD.
Sure, I'm still grateful for seeing the digital 4K restoration in the main room of the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam some years back. Somewhere in the 90's, I even saw a 70mm version of it.
But this UHD version... looks great... to me.

And your absolutely right!, The LoA 4K UHD looks really, Really good. This disc definitely has its critics, I'm not one of them. Hopefully Vol 2 will continue the great quality.

If you are in the States. Give them your name and shipping address as well as where and when you purchased the set.

Be specific in your e-mail subject header.

You’ve kept your Limited Edition is such great shape! Mine’s been battered to hell due to excessive shelf wear and general damage (mainly due to it’s unwieldy size).
