So if you're making $75K in NY, you're not getting $6K per month. You're lucky if you get $4K.

Maybe in parts of Manhattan. That's not everywhere NOR where "Patrick Bateman" aka MrHT (or I) am living.

Most people in the 5 boroughs don't pay anywhere near that.

My post was meant to lash out at the government for excluding me on the check because I could really use the extra income. It was not meant to insult anyone here, so I'm sorry.

I have neighbors that already poke fun at my salary and I make more than $75K. So sometimes, I even feel ashamed at myself for the money I make and at times, I feel like I get severely underpaid.

Yes, that and also because NY now has over 12,000 confirmed cases. Washington (the second highest) has only 1,700. It's quite shocking how big of a difference that is. No other state has nearly as many cases nor is increasing as rapidly.

I need to get out of NY ASAP before we get more confirmed cases than China! And the way it's going, that might just happen by next week.

As opposed to the MR for the flu which is usually about 0.01%. That's a HUGE difference.

It is a big difference, but we'll have to see how this plays out. Health officials speculate that there are many more that are or have been infected then the number reported so that percentage could be much lower. We wouldn't really know unless everyone was tested.

Which isn't going to happen. Right now and for the foreseeable future, testing will be limited to hospital staff and first responders in the big hotspots. We here in NM added 14 new cases today. Almost a 50% increase over yesterdays 35 total.
