Don't worry. It'll go back up. Hardly anyone has been wearing a mask or social distancing lately. I think the latest news here NY has people thinking that the pandemic is over.

I don't know why some predict 140,000 in the US on the 4th of July because my numbers add to 133,000

7 day moving average of daily cases and deaths through 6/18 (today)
Cases in the U.S. have risen from average of 21,305 per day a week ago, to 24,805 now. That's a jump of 16.4%, or 3500 cases. Daily Cases Daily death however show the opposite trend. Last week an average of 803 per day, down to 665 today. a decline of 17.2%, or 138 deaths. Daily deaths Very interesting contrast in charts, to say the least. However deaths lag a few weeks behind cases, so we'll see if the downward trend continues, or if the weight of the increased cases cause the curve to flatten or curve back up. A link to last week's charts. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...8#post17741898 |

I believe that we are @ turning point today.
More and more people seem to realize how serious this pandemic is. @ least that's the way I feel in real life with my surroundings and the people I see shopping ... On the island where I live masks are not yet the new way of life, but I know it'll come, soon enough. I can tell also the insecurity in people's faces, and the way they interact with each other. This is a totally new different ballgame. But where I live is only a miniaturization, a lilliputian fraction of the whole world, and it's nowhere near like some places...Brazil right now for example, ...Peru and Chile. ...Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia...all South America. How long will it take til roughly 70% of the entire global population gets infected? I have no clue. And even less on the total number of "departed". Perhaps it depends on social distancing, wearing masks and hand sanitizer? I bet 100% that it does. |

Bruce, I'm the type of realistic believer that with time...places that are doing fine today (countryside) are eventually going to experience not so fine anymore. Why? Because it takes only one person coming out from say a working place in another county (province in Canada) and visiting his family to a different county/ province, and even after testing and not showing sign of any symptom, to become a super spreader. And hope won't stop this virus, and just one small mistake could become catastrophic, or if you want to use a more charming word...fatal for many. I'm optimistic that we won't see anything near like 100 years ago. We'll find a workable vaccine sometime but I have zero clue when exactly and how effective. I'm just reporting the general overall health scientist expert trend/consensus. I think it's important to not lose sight from one day to the next. And it's from everyone...us the normal workers, the managers, the directors, the school teachers, the nurses, the doctors, the cinema lovers, ...everyone. ...Including the grocery shoppers, the food packers, the meat packers, and all the eaters...7.8 billion total (but some don't have anything to eat...children die everyday from starvation...a lot of them ...) ... ● https://www.mercycorps.org/blog/quic...-global-hunger Last edited by LordoftheRings; 06-19-2020 at 04:58 AM. |

There was a big outbreak in a meat processing plant over here with over 730 infections. They had to quarantine pretty much the entire town and close all schools. And all that because the douchebags didn't follow the hygiene rules. Let that be a lesson to everyone. Screwing up can cause one hell of a clusterf***.
On the other hand only 16 deaths in Germany yesterday and that number has been consistently low for quite a while now so that's good. |

Rural areas where tourists aren't interested in going are pretty safe. Everyone knows each other and where they go. I guess if a family in Hooverville goes on a trip to Florida, then the others there will mask up when they see them, or avoid them for a couple of weeks after they get back. Or mask up if they see a stranger. Common sense needs to prevail. It's time and dose. Regarding the inevitability of getting to that herd immunity, I imagine through a combination of vaccines and having got it, maybe it's not such a bad thing that we go through a slow burn, as long as hospital capacity isn't overwhelmed. It would put is in a better position for a second wave, and if vaccines turn out to be a disappointment, then we'll be further on our way to getting back to the true normal. Of course the elderly and vulnerable need to be protected and with the death rate going down, it looks like that is happening. I wonder how the nursing homes are doing these days. I don't hear too much in the news anymore about spikes in nursing homes. No news is good news? Last edited by bruceames; 06-19-2020 at 01:44 PM. |

Our media right now is all about making sure the country is scared back into their homes it seems, we have states Vermont with literally 1 infected person that is hospitalized total in the state, and 3 deaths since the first of May. Their state of emergency was just extended to the middle of July and made hints it could stay in place until labor day. Watch how quickly the tune changes in this media when thousands of public school teacher jobs, and thousands of college campuses for that matter are at risk of going bye bye! |

Have noticed the attitudes of people on Covid seem to be in line with where they live. If they are in a area of very few cases, they seem more unconcerned and think people are overreacting and rules should be relaxed. In high risk areas and hot spots, the opposite is true. |

You are right Bruce; no news is good news, in general, but not always.
There are some type of news that are bad but they are classified or not revealed to the general public. There are also manipulated news. And there are news to accommodate the timing and security of nurses and doctors. ...Like two months ago when it was recommended to not wear masks; because they were in short supply for the nurses and doctors. Today it's the complete reverse. On other news ... You may have antibodies after coronavirus infection. But not for long. |

Man, I assumed all my post were being removed because I was saying "Chinese Flu".
So I stopped saying Chinese Flu. And my last post still got removed. I'm guessing they are being removed because I'm not panicking and peeing my pants but I really don't know. Maybe this should be renamed THE CORONAVIRUS PANTIES IN A BUNCH THREAD ![]() |
