Anyone know the DI for Hotel Transylvania 3?

Netflix just added it to their service, and it’s under the 4K umbrella. With them doing the native 4K mandate, I think this may mean the UHD is a 4K master.

I can't speak for what HT3 was mastered at but it's worth bearing in mind that Netflix mandate 4K end-to-end for everything that they make themselves, NOT for content that they get from a third party. Example: Netflix show Star Trek Discovery in the UK (we don't have CBS All Access) and the second season is still 1080p HDR like the first season was. So it's just as likely it's the upscaled UHD master for HT3.

The BD of season one of Discovery cried out for HDR. CRIED OUT. Makes me sad.

Right. I know that, but they also don’t have Star Trek Discovery listed in their 4K section, which HT3 is.

There’s other 1080p/HDR titles that are on Netflix, Cloverfield Paradox being another; but it’s also not listed in their 4K section. Neither is Knights of Sidonia or their currently ongoing Godzilla anime OAV series.

What I’m saying is, Hotel Transylvania 3, is specifically in the 4K category. Along with other studio films like Ex Machina and Ghostbusters, which do have 4K masters.

Those others aren't in there because they're not 4K, upscaled or otherwise. You telling me that there's no other 2K upscaled content in their entire 4K movie library at all? Must be a small list. Not much of a streamer me, though the US and UK Netflix offerings are different anyway.

I'm living in China so I can't use Netflix, but someone once told me Animal World (2018) have 4K selection on Netflix. That movie is 2K DI finished.

BlacKkKlansman had a 2k DCP and no other confirmation of a 4k DI. So it's likely only 2k. Whoever updates that on this site likely uses IMDb, which is not an authoritative source.

Is there any additional information about this statement about Crazy Rich Asians?

Why is Annihilation still listed as true 4k? It's not only not true 4, the UHD is on the 2k DI that doesn't even show the usual trace of extra detail compared to blu-ray.

IMDB has it listed as a 4K DI. I know IMDB is not a source to be trusted in these matters, but what makes you sure it is not a 4K DI? Just curious.

all I can say is these don't appear to show anything at all behind the detail difference for 2k DI on blu-ray vs. same or a trace better on UHD, there are other UHD from 2k DI that I swear add even a touch more detail compared to the blu-ray than in this case, whatever the case the detail difference seems incredibly marginal for 4k+ digitally shot stuff (not doubting this part, lots of stuff is shot on 4k or higher cameras but finished at 2k) given a 4k finish compared to the blu-ray, on the other hand look at say Passengers, digitally shot at high-res and 4k finished and the UHD is like looking out a window, and you can easily tell it from the blu-ray and why would they go 2k DCP for Annihilation if they had a 4k DI ready for home?:
https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x...6&l=1&i=4&go=1

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x...4&l=1&i=2&go=1

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x...2&l=1&i=0&go=1

meanwhile look at Passengers, a for sure 4k DI and a 4k DCP with the UHD vs. blu-ray:
https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x...7&l=1&i=0&go=1

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x...&l=1&i=10&go=1

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x...5&l=1&i=3&go=1

maybe they just chose all the fuzziest scenes for the caps-aholic for Annihilation and there are other scenes where you could see it jump out at you but that seems not super likely

anyway I don't see much detail there for the UHD over the blu-ray and sometimes none, now of course the colors and HDR do give it big boost over the blu-ray for this particular title though
