Sony BMG has announced Justin Timberlake Futuresex/Loveshow: Live From Madison Square Garden will be released January 29 on Blu-ray Disc. It was originally released on DVD November 23. Like that release, the Blu-ray Disc version will be available exclusively at Best Buy stores and BestBuy.com.

HipFlops' review is actually an Amazon review verbatim. FYI.
I read somewhere that the second disc is not a BD but a DVD. If it is true, that blows. It also blows that Dick In A Box is not part of the setlist. I would like to read a full review first before I make the purchase. fuad |

Picked this up today and watched some of it already. The video quality is excellent! Very clear as you can expect just like the Elton 60 concert. The audio sounds great as well but it's very different from the Elton concert. Elton's concert on Blu had very distinct audio with his piano and vocals sounding clear as crystal from the center channel. Timberlakes concert sounds like you're there. The vocals are almost blended into the music. You can make out the vocals but it's definitely not a clear and pronounced as Elton's. Overall I'm impressed with this Blu-ray but not AS impressed as the Elton 60.

Just got it today as well. Am watching it right now (damn if my day wasn't filled with music; I'd just left a Celtic music concert). The picture is 1080i, but it is a very clean VC-1 encode. The concert seems to have been recorded at 30fps as movements are more realistic than, say, Shakira's BD. Kinda disconcerting when you're used to the 24p fares but it's a concert, so I can care less about PQ.
AQ seems good, but I cannot say for sure as I am gauging from directly from the TV's speakers (it's late at night, so I can't test it on the sound system). I was a bit disappointed to find many of his songs have been given either a slight acoustic or rock treatment since I expected pure sonic delight with highly synthesized sounds a la Timbaland. But I'll give it a thorough playback tomorrow on the sound system to finalize an opinion. |
