Good point, kiddo. We should go back to 480p as well.

480p24 is where it's at!

With HDR (makes blur worse) and larger tvs becoming more common, 24fps is absolutely falling behind . Even bumping up to 30 would help.

I believe most ntsc DVDs are 29.957fps but they're telecined up from 24 so it still doesn't look great.

Everybody just ignore the idiot. He's doing this in quite a few threads. He's trolling and people are biting.

After watching this a second time in 3D, I have to say I enjoyed the movie itself quite a bit more. I think the 3D did a better job with the immersion element Ang Lee was going for, but I think just a second viewing in general made me appreciate it more. Its a solid character piece and drama in its own right, and really well put together. The whole point of the movie wasnt the battle or the halftime show, it was Billy's acceptance of who he is (a soldier) and that ultimately his fate was out of his control, and thats okay (the bullet's already been fired).

Finally sat down and actually watched this.

The HFR was initially off-putting to me, but I got used to it after a few minutes, and slowly began to appreciate its benefits. It lent the combat sequences a gravity and realism I have never seen in any movie, and I found the images rather overwhelming and disturbing.

After watching this, I think I'm with imsounoriginal: HFR certainly isn't appropriate for every, or even most, movies. But, for the right material and with the right director, it can have compelling effects.

I get that some like HFR and I'm not attacking you. However what confuses me about this is that if you're a movie enthusiast surely you've gotten used to it by now? I feel like I don't even notice the framerate anymore unless there's a really fast and long shot (like the room spin in Blow Out). I've totally adapted and it just looks like film to me.

Just read the review and I am confused by the score.

A 5/5 for the Blu-ray, but then the reviewer goes on to praise the UHD highly for its unique look and suggests it is a must buy, but gives it a 4.5/5 and a lower score than the 1080p Blu-ray.

Any reason why? I have this release but haven't watch yet. I'm curious...

I'm confused by the 4.5 score too. Only nit-pick I see he gave it were some blacks that could look better. Not sure why he's gotta be so fussy! Seems like this is THE reference quality disc, so I'm shocked by the lack of a 5-star 4k picture review...

Yeah, according to the scores on this site, The Magnificent Seven has better PQ than this. What are they smoking?

Scores are on a different scale for 1080p BD vs. 4K UHD-BDs.

Just looks misleading to the average reader I suppose.

Purchased this and will be watching it tonight, but I got to see the first 10 minutes. lol @ anyone making a big deal about needing to "get used to" the HFR. It took me less than a second, and the picture quality is stunning in every way. By far the best PQ of any movies I've ever watched at home.

60 fps is objectively better than 24p. There's really no excuse for 24p to still be the standard.

It doesn't work for a lot of visual effects heavy films. The HFR makes everything look fake or at least faker... as if you're watching a behind the scenes documentary.

Film is not real life, it's surrealism.
