I had some issues with the 4k version playing on my setup. I have an Oppo 4k player-> Marantz 7702 mkII->JVC RS 400 w/anamorphic lens. I had the output on the oppo to native and it wouldn't even display a picture. I then switched it to 60fps output and it displayed the picture and sound, but it would not let me change the anamorphic mode on my projector. I ended up having to watch the blu ray instead.

Anyone else with issues?

For example the scene where he returns home and was greeted by his family the main character walks into a side room and sees his father. There's a momentary pause and then the film resumes at the scene where he crashes his Jeep.

Has anyone else experienced issues with this title either during layer changes or freezing? This is the only UHD disc I have experienced this issue with and my firmware is up-to-date
No issues for me. What HDMI cable do you have?

can you go straight to the projector from the player to test? sounds like something along the line is not accepting the resolution, framerate, or color spec, or hdmi cables are not rated highly enough.

Its more of a "I put up with it" because I have no other option. The 24fps blur and things are very noticeable to me and I see them in every movie I watch; given an option of 24, 30, 48, 60 on any film, I would always go for higher than 24. Oklahoma looks far better on the 30fps bluray compared to the 24, and its a shame that we will never see the 30fps Around the World in 80 days. The hobbits HFR looked great as well in theaters.

I am very sensitive to refresh rates on CRTs and lights (would forgo extra resolution for higher refresh on CRTS); and like using a 120hz LCD monitor on my desktop now. Maybe that sensitivity has something to do with it. Either way, bring on the HFR! . (its fun to use my peripheral vision at 35mm screenings to REALLY notice the flickering of the projector, seems like a strobe light and thats with the multiple flashing of frames, not just the 24fps)

I think I would get along well with Douglas Trumbull.

Well it's all subjective obviously. I'm glad that (for now) most of the world seems to agree with me though!

With everything on Auto, my Oppo also chooses to output 12-bit 4:2:2. I assume because anything greater would be too much for the current hardware.
I was talking about 4:4:4 with 10 or 12-bit giving me banding with 4K/24. As you said, Auto on 203 outputs 4:2:2. Lot of people including myself with Samsung displays were getting banding while watching Billy Lynn 4K/60 using 4:2:2 10/12-bit (its the way Samsung's handle 4K/60). Using 4:2:0 10/12-bit results in no banding while watching 4K/60. Once I play a 4K/24 disc, as expected output shifts up to 4:2:2 (due to HDMI rules)

24fps makes me feel like I'm drunk. But it is the universally accepted frame rate so I'm just blaspheming here[emoji15]

I just finished Billy Lynn last night. I found that the 60 frames per second was a bit distracting, but not as much as I thought it would be. It was kind of a surreal experience because it did not feel like I was watching a movie. I also felt the movie had an almost 3d like depth. The movie itself was ok and the visuals were superb.

The only reason why you felt that way is because 24fps is all you have been exposed to all your life. If all your life you had been exposed to 60fps and now watched something in 24fps you would have said that 24fps was too distracting

No one is sitting in a cinema and thinking ' I can't handle this motion blur!'

I add TruMotion up until just before I start noticing artefacts

Years of using that setting has conditioned you to ignore all artefacts up until that point but they are still there.

We all have different thresholds for motion artefacts
But with native 60fps we won't have to deal with those artefacts at all
