Kino has officially announced a Fritz Lang Box set for November 21st 2017. It will include 11 films, including several that haven't been released on Blu-ray before. I will update this post as more becomes available.

Courtesy of MisterLime, our resident Kino Insider, I can share with everyone that Kino will be releasing three new Fritz Lang films in early 2016, including Spies (Spione), Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler (Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler), and The Woman in the Moon (Frau im Mond). Better yet, they're also putting out a Fritz Lang Box set! This is absolutely amazing news

All releases will be sourced from restorations done by the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Foundation (just like the UK releases from Eureka). I would hope for The Tiger of Eschnapur and The Indian Tomb, but I doubt it.
Or at least the Dana Andrews noirs.

It won't include those as I don't think Kino has the rights to them. It may just include the new ones coming out separately, but I imagine it will probably include popular existing releases like Metropolis, and perhaps Die Nibelungen too.

Yes, this is great for Region-A only folks. Many have waited some time to get some of these.

I wish there could be some complete set of Fritz Lang's work with Thea von Harbou. They were one of the first great couple filmmakers, and I'd love to see a special feature or get a booklet on what happened with them.

Never did pick up the Eureka Blu-Ray for Mabuse, and I haven't seen the other movies, so it looks like I'll be buying this set.

Already own the Mabuse releases from Eureka....but I've been waiting on any others, so this is fantastic news. Spione is one I've almost purchased several times.

Watched Frau Im Mond last night (I have the UK release). I was astounded by the picture quality, which - except for some vertical lines at the beginning of the film and one small segment in the middle that looks like a later generation element - looks incredible for a film this age. They did a fantastic job on the restoration.

As for the film itself, it is pretty incredible how well it predicted much of what would occur forty years later technology wise. It runs a little long, and certainly could have been trimmed down, but I was into it.

It's insane, isn't it?

The whole crawler transporting the ship at night to the launch pad was ridiculously spot on. The freaking lighting in that scene had me flashing back to the early shuttle days.

Hope they offer replacement discs for those who bought the busted versions of Spies and Woman in the Moon. Otherwise, having to buy the box to get the correct versions is a d**k move.

I just brought that up in the KIno thread, asking MisterLime whether they'll offer replacement discs.

I was curious to discover if they intended to release both "Siegfried" and "Kriemhild's Revenge" in the "Die Nibelungen", as they did with the release I purchased in 2012.
Nice to see that they are (makes sense).
I did not know "Frau im Mond" had issue! I'd also be interested in resolution if that's the case. Though proving purchase would be a problem at this stage for me.

edit: Actually, just checked and I have the Eureka MoC release of "FiM". Aspect ratio is 1.33:1 (should be 1.37:1 ?) (169 min). Not aware of what Kino released.
