Same here. If Spione had a steel it would have been a done deal months ago

(and I'm not a big steel fan either, I've just really taken a liking to MoC's)

This sounds awesome! Knowing Kino's prices though I just need someone to hire me as a hitman so I can buy it.

Watched Frau Im Mond last night (I have the UK release). I was astounded by the picture quality, which - except for some vertical lines at the beginning of the film and one small segment in the middle that looks like a later generation element - looks incredible for a film this age. They did a fantastic job on the restoration.

As for the film itself, it is pretty incredible how well it predicted much of what would occur forty years later technology wise. It runs a little long, and certainly could have been trimmed down, but I was into it.

It's insane, isn't it?

The whole crawler transporting the ship at night to the launch pad was ridiculously spot on. The freaking lighting in that scene had me flashing back to the early shuttle days.

Hope they offer replacement discs for those who bought the busted versions of Spies and Woman in the Moon. Otherwise, having to buy the box to get the correct versions is a d**k move.

I just brought that up in the KIno thread, asking MisterLime whether they'll offer replacement discs.

I was curious to discover if they intended to release both "Siegfried" and "Kriemhild's Revenge" in the "Die Nibelungen", as they did with the release I purchased in 2012.
Nice to see that they are (makes sense).
I did not know "Frau im Mond" had issue! I'd also be interested in resolution if that's the case. Though proving purchase would be a problem at this stage for me.

edit: Actually, just checked and I have the Eureka MoC release of "FiM". Aspect ratio is 1.33:1 (should be 1.37:1 ?) (169 min). Not aware of what Kino released.

If they don't offer replacements, that will be one of the biggest douche moves I've seen.

They've been consitently ignoring the question on Facebook and various boards since the announcement, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Let's hope they just take a hit for the sake of their good reputation and do the right thing.

Silence means suck an egg. That is the same response they gave to the totally botched Nosferatu. We are their beta testers and we have to pay for the privilege.

I don't even own any of these Kino discs. I have the MoC UK discs for all these. But I think this is just sh**ty on Kino's part if they don't make this right. I guess I've said it three times, but oh well. Just more encouragement to avoid their releases when possible.

I just noticed that this boxset is available from Amazon.ca for $105 CAD (vs $150 at Amazon US). With shipping to the US, it comes to about $92 USD shipped

I'm on this. I'll sell the individual copies of the respective films that I already own.

Their silence on prior disc issues is almost standard. A few summers ago, they released about 6-7 films with sync issues. Their response was essentially ‘it’s not on our end it’s your player, your firmware, or an issue with elements’ while other region releases were often correct.

While I greatly enjoy Kino’s releases and try to get as many as I can, I now have to go with reviews before purchasing. Hopefully this box comes through.

It's really poor show on their part to ignore questions about this issue. The right thing to do would have been to announce a replacement program right off the bat. Oh well, not a surprise I guess...
