What is your location? The US has no pre-order yet, however, blu-ray.com lists the film as being released on March 22, 13. I believe the only pre-orders for that date are in the UK.

Thanks BleedOrange11. Cool case box pics. So two discs for a 3D extended version later this year. I'll have to see what the extended scenes include, considering 2h54m for theatrical is already an epic runtime.

No, the regular theatrical 3D version will be on two discs as well, like Titanic. The Ultimate Edition is not the extended edition.

I'm in the UK - I definately can't find any pre-order links. The amazon.de and amazon.fr links both say 31st December 2013.

I take it no HFR for Blu-Ray 3D? Good thing I saw it at the cinemas but I'm disappointed we don't get it for home.

Can do it. Current TVs or Blu-ray specs can't do HFR @ 48fps. Both require new TVs and Blu-ray players.

You'll have to wait for 4K, and they haven't even dealt with how it will handle the 3D specs, if they use the HFR concept. (Hell, that's not even settled since we technically have 2 versions, even though 60fps will not show up until at least 2015 or whenever Avatar 2 actually arrives.)

Mind me asking, I know BD doesn't support 48 fps content yet, but wouldn't TV's be able to handle it? I mean we already have videogames in 60fps, or does it work differently? My guess is the latter, but just to be sure.

Loved the HFR 3D version though most critics hated it. The hyper reality did sort of kill the fantasy but nevertheless loved the process. It sure was breathtaking.

The refresh rates on current TVs are not designed for 48fps. 60fps and 24fps have always been part of the HDTV specifications.

I thought it heightened it.

I've got a 3D camera that plays fine at 60p on my TV and Projector.

I thought the Blu-ray specs allowed for 720p content at 50fps? Not exactly 48 yes, but isn't there a workaround for that?

Here is an article explaining what 3D Blu-Ray can do with frame rates

http://3dhd.wordpress.com/2012/12/18...mber_197400685

They could release it in 1080i @ 50 or 59.94/60Hz in side by side format or Frame Packing
720p @ 50 or 59.94/60Hz. The options are there, they just need to tweek it from 48p to something a little higher.

No one gives a shit what the critics think.

Why are they not releasing a 1080p 3D digital download with the HFR?

Okay, thanks. That's a bummer it's on 2 discs. Avatar managed it on one. Oh well. At least it'll have the best HD possible with the 3D.

HFR 3D felt less like a movie, and more like actually being there with the characters, as if in real life based on the motion. Really cool. I still like 24fps, but welcome 48.

Any articles on that? (bolded by me), i.e. ‘just’ tweaking it from 48 -> 60.

well why on earth wouldn't current sets be able to do a in-between framerate like 48 FPS. It just seems weird to me that we can play 60 FPS video games just fine on current sets, but not be able to play 48 FPS bluray content

I'm gonna be so disappointed if I have to wait years to own The Hobbit trilogy in 48 FPS. I loved 48 FPS with the first installment and would hate to not have the ability to see it again

Ahhh man this is a must for my collection. Even though I can already see myself shelling more cash for the extended versions.
