haha I agree...$59.99 has a nice ring to it. I'm still set on buying the extended but for a good price I may just have to get my LOTR's in HD fix a little early.

I hope they put the subtitles (when used) in the actual movie unlike the DVD's. Subtitles in the black bars would ruin it for me. Lossless audio would also be good.
Is there a site or email address where one can plead for things such as these?? |

152 pages... that's a lot. So can anyone tell me what the consensus seems to be here? Are people going to buy this or wait for the extended edition? I recently bought the EE on DVD, and buying the lousy theatrical edition less then a year later is a waste of dough.

I admit, I am buying both when they come out. I want the 1080p video/Dolby TrueHD audio on the theaterical verison, as this alone is a signifcant improvement IMO. I also anticipate this keeping me satisfied until the Extended versions come out, then I'll be very, very happy.

I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this trilogy on Blu-Ray - ALMOST as much as Star Wars. Being a fan of LOTR i would also prefer the extended editions, but as previously stated, i can hardly contain my need to have this set in my hands ASAP. Guaranteed that 85% of the users here that explicitly state they refuse to purchase the Theatricals cuts will cave and purchase it within 2 weeks.
Once the screenshots and review go up for this trilogy on blu-ray.com see how long it takes for them to run to the store and grab a copy. Seriously. 5.0's across the board, i'm guaranteeing, everyone will cave. Besides, you can always sell your theatrical trilogy once the extended trilogy arrives. I must admit that LOTR DVD's haven't aged well especially when viewed upscaled to 1080p on an HDTV. Making it even more irresistible to grab at the earliest copy of these films. Mark my words. No offense, but all of you will cave. All of you. And there's nothing wrong with that - that's why we're true fans and not casual viewers. April can't come soon enough for me. |
