It could have been worse. He could have asked you to watch Fellowship of the Rings with him to see if there were scenes you could spot DNR in.

Then I would have gone true Eowyn style and used a sword...

You guys could play a game of spot the artifact. Just kidding, I myself will probably never grow tired of these movies but I'm not you.

To keep them "fresh", I have to limit myself. The last two years I have only watched them twice a year, but the BD's look so good, I might have to increase that limit.

After seeing the films so often, it gets to the point where you start quoting them:
For example:

"Oooh, a long-expected (fill in the blank)."
"Fool of a (fill in the blank)!"
"(Fill in the blank) cannot stay here."
"We wants it! We wants our (fill in the blank)".
Etc, etc.

And now of course, "Let's hunt some (fill in the blank)!"

I was quoting Return of the King during the movie earlier.

Not a single person posting in this thread has ever once disputed that DNR has been used on this release. That is a complete non-issue.

It has been pointed out by some of the more sensible members, that virtually every blu-ray has DNR; so again, saying "this release has been DNR'd" is basically meaningless, it says about as much about the PQ as saying "this release is 1080p"... while true, it is pointing out the absurdly obvious, and makes the implication that there is something unusual about that fact. It is a tedious observation that does not differentiate this title from any other.

Just drop it.
i did point out that all blu-rays use dnr.[sony says they don't].i just want to know why they feel on a hi def format they must use it? i haven't heard an answer yet that makes sense.

i guess most people are happy with lotr trilogy. i'll wait till the price drops.

Diesel i could not agree more these movies are so long, some nights you just want to watch a 90 min movie, but there are not a lot of those these days. It's not so bad however if you like Horror movies they all seem to be around 90 mins.

Triangle: 98 minutes of mindbending psycho-thriller-action in the bermuda triangle.

From Dustins review...

Christopher Smith reportedly spent two years working on the story, so we can rest assured this isn't simply a cash-in project with little lasting value. Every twist of the plot and nuance in the character reactions required painstaking levels of planning to fit within the mold of the sequential events that follow. Before long, it becomes a voyeuristic study of intense human reaction, littered with visions you'll find difficult to get out of your head. The shock value in the production never centers on gore, but gives us an unflinching front-row seat to a nightmare in progress.

You will have no idea that you are even watching a movie, until it is over.

Not hating... just saying
100 hours doesn't sound like much. I think I put in more work than that editing my roughly 300 digital photos from my trip to New Zealand.

Why do you want to do this?

(moan)... here:

DNR evens out images that are composed of "real" and "digital" elements.
It removes noise introduced by digital elements and processes.
It conceals a small amount of damage or corruption on the master, (not well, perhaps, but cheaply).
and finally, the big one:

after extensive market research, (i.e. test audiences being asked which picture looks better), they determined that most consumers prefer a little DNR. Mass market products cater to the majority. I'm sorry they don't cater to your personal tastes.
(haven't I already said this exact thing several times?)

I am now sending you a virtual Kick-in-the-head.

Now, go tell the others not to bring this up again.
