![]() Then you can replace the one disc and send the set back. Do it right away and all will be chill. Maybe you've got to be a long-time customer, I don't know. But the poster who said they'll only replace once is right - at that point it's return for a refund or credit time. Good luck. ![]() |

One does not simply not have a box. I always keep spare ones for various occasions.
Right now, I don't have to do anything. The replacement order status is showing as "prepared for shipment" and it already has a estimate delivery date, so right now the table's on them. |

Well, Amazon never prompt me the option that I have or don't have a box to ship my old item. Just the option to drop it off via UPS or not right after I selected a reason (and give comment) to return the item.
That's MY experience. |

Just got my replacement today. In spite of the miscommunication, I followed that user's advice and replaced a working copy (I checked; no hiccups) of Disc 1's RotK into the old set, and am about to send the new set back to UPS towards Amazon. Thanks for the advice, Early Memphis.

Any reason to get the extended editions of the prequels? Splitting one book into three movies made each movie already feel too long and too slow. I get that the original trilogy is better in the extended version but wouldn't the regular set be preferable for the prequels? I got the individual movies on Black Friday from BB and paid all of $22 total. I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting the extended editions and if so, if it's worth more than twice what I paid for the single non extended edition movies.

Theatrical is unaffected but pretty sure it's also a much less impressive transfer. The color on the EE looks fine to me, I really think the hate is mostly overblown, though if you are a super fan of the movie it might bug you.

Especially Desolation of Smaug and Battle of Five Armies are WAY better in their extended forms and may be the most fulfilling Extended cuts of all the Middle Earth films (compared to their Theatrical versions). |

The $55 is a good price so I'm tempted but I'm 50/50. I want the prequels because you want the story that leads into the main books but that's where I can't decide whether to keep my standard movies or get the prequels. Maybe if the price was $40 it'd be an easier buy for me, like the original extended edition has been to. I got it at $45 a year or two ago. $55 still seems like a lot for movies that weren't as good as the previous trilogy. |

Just opened my copy of the set as a Christmas present today and sure enough, it has the same sort of packaging as the Hobbit Extended Trilogy set.
Thank goodness the slimmed down, cheaper Canadian slipcover version shown several pages back isn't as widespread as I feared. |

For years I've debated waiting for the grand super duper mega extended set of all six films but the new films simply suck too hard. Finally snapped-up the original US extended package on eBay with the black boxes. It isn't as nice as the extended DVD package and buying nine DVDs with my six BDs seems a farce, especially as I already own them, but I'm looking forward to seeing these masterpieces again.
