No confirmation needed, they are WB (at least the U.S. versions are) so they will be region free. The DVD's however will be region 1 NTSC.

Would there even be enough time for Jackson and Lesnie to fix this release before it hits shelves? I'd imagine they would have to go the disc exchange route to fix this sort of thing...

No they would not have time. They don't make thousands of Blu-rays one week before the release. There is a long process of making them, packaging them and shipping them to distributors.

Damn. I was going to pass up on this box set just to get Fellowship Extended by itself and holy hell, it's pretty damn sweet.

I'll bite and get this even though I know I won't watch the other two films that much, if at all.

I have not heard PJ or Lesnie said they were unhappy with the PQ so they will not fix anything because there is nothing to fix. Nothing is perfect but the PQ on these is close to perfect. Can't wait to see the reviews rolling in and the PQ will get 5 across the board. Then the people that have a problem with the release don't have any case anymore. Because there is no case

In your opinion which I respect, but many of us disagree which is OK as well.

Even with reviews, people will find some sort of flaws. No one is ever happy.

As mentioned, no way. Likely there will be an exchange program and the "fixed" version will quitely replace the current version as production continues.

But there is nothing to fix
But if they call them back so next time it is released will be a long time from now and also this release will have people complaining. Man this is just ridiculous

I have to say... I've been quietly monitoring this thread for about a week now, not commenting... But honestly being very concerned.

There was no question that there was a problem... Most glaringly emphasized in the screenshot of what was clearly supposed to be a all white transition in Rivendale.

i found it both humorous and disturbing to then see people(some who's opinions are highly regarded by me) continue ro come in and pretend like everything is ok and as intended.

I did not comment because I didn't want to be considered another whining fanboy, and honestly didn't think my displeasure would matter to the powers that be... So essentially I considered this sanother wasted release...

Well... To get to the point...

To now see that because of the honest dicussions and observations in this thread(as well as AVS and other forums) this issue has now made itself known to Peter Jackson himself... I must say I am very impressed...

And proud to be a part of this community here at Blu-Ray .com... Well done gentleman.

what makes you think he thinks there is anything to fix. He has not said that he is unhappy with the PQ

Some people will never be satisfied

I'm DYING to see a review on this?

Does anyone think bluray.com or AVS will receive an advanced copy? Or, will they not receive their copy until release day?

My guess is that Kenneth Brown, having reviewed the TE's may be looking at this as we speak. He is usually spot on the money, and no doubt this will be one of his most anticipated reviews.

He wouldn't be contacting anyone or taking any time out of his extremely busy schedule right now if there wasn't an issue...

I say agian... Anyone who looks at the comparison of the supposed to be all white transition in Rivendale... And continues to act like nothing is wrong... Or continues on with the sentiment of "Some people will never be satisfied"... That's someone that is just not even worth taking seriously at this piont when it comes to this situation...

I'm sorry... You're way off base.
