Are you SURE about that? You said what I want to hear: Portuguese is in the US edition, as stated in Blu-ray.com. I pre-ordered my boxset with that assumption in mind, but would love to be sure before it ships...

''Subtitles: Croatian, Czech, English, French, German, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Spanish'' ...

That list is rather strange for North American release ...

Yes, I'm 100% certain. The information here:

No, that's wrong... That must be their default 'list everything until we know' template... See US link above, that's accurate.
There's a release for Germany with the following options:

And there's the Asian release with all the Chinese, Korean, Czech, etc subtitles mentioned previously... Wasn't sure exactly what region that one is for, so didn't know where to put that info on Blu-ray.com.

The European release is apparently being handled by a company called Entertainment in Video (not Warner), I don't know anything about that one...

Different foreign audio (French instead of Portuguese)... And a _lot_ of trailers before the menu comes up... Otherwise it's the same content.

I noticed the French audio on the Canadian discs is DTS-HD MA 6.1, whereas the French discs have DTS-MA 5.1 instead:

I wonder if the Canadian discs feature a "dubbed in Quebec" track, or if it's a different mix of the same track?

I'm pretty sure the French track on the Canadian release is 'French-Canadian'. I don't speak French, so I can't tell for sure.

Oddly enough, I also just noticed that FOTR French is 6.1, while TTT and ROTK are French 5.1 ES...

Reviews have or will have very little bearing. Those that have already decided this will be a bad release will not change their mind because of a review saying it's beautiful and perfect, at the end of the day buy it if you want it or don't buy it if you don't want it.

What is annoying is the constant trying to tell one side or the other to change their mind but very little one can do about it, on the Internet we all revert to our grade school brain when we post. my dad is stronger then your dad

Enemies of the green, I have some news that will disappoint you. I have it on good authority that the new transfer for Fellowship WAS approved by Jackson and Lesnie. I am telling you this so no one gets his or her hopes up expecting to hear anything different if/when an official statement is made. This is coming from a very reliable source who will probably say something himself before we hear anything official from Jackson or Warner Bros..

As you are well aware and I made abundantly clear, I am not a fan of the new green tint. But it's not going anywhere for the time being until (if ever) Jackson decides to change it again.
